He has already said that he would like to go the Joe Burrow route and be here for two years. I am happy to say he is well on his way to accomplishing that ;) This year we most likely just fall short of the playoffs and I think that is going to really motivate a lot of this team to come back and kick some arse. I could totally see them getting it done next year if they continue to progress.

2023 isn’t the best year for QBs to declare.

After the QB's in the 2022 draft class it absolutely is an excellent time to declare.

If JD comes back, it could be the best case scenario for both him and LSU. He could improve his draft stock while bringing Walker Howard into games without the immense pressure of being the only option.

Actually, best case for LSU is that he comes back and still loses a competition to Nuss and/or Howard.

That means one or both of the young QB's has stepped up in a MAJOR way and we still have a veteran for relief.

He will get draft graded at the end of the season and then he will make a decision. Why speculate now?

Would hate that for JD because he seems like a really good dude, but I just can’t imagine Walker not getting the starting job if he’s half as good as advertised. We need a passer who can utilize our WR’s to their full potential.

Just because he completed more 5 yard passes last game doesn’t mean he’s more accurate.
what game are you watching? I'll agree about his deep ball, but his intermediate accuracy has improved greatly. He threw some dimes at ~15 yds

I think He comes back, but thisnis maybe the best era for him to get drafted

The NFL has multiple QBs that run a lot and it values backups probably More than ever.

I could Definitely see teams Like the Ravens spending a second day pick on him this year.

Something that JD5 has not been able to accomplish thus far.
If he can do better at this against the gumps, LSU has a decent chance to win.

He can transfer if he feels like he needs to.

I just want to see another open competition.

er. It absolutely blows my mind how high people are on him on this site.

People are high on Daniels because he is the sole reason we have a winning record this season.
If he comes back next year, we have a legitimate chance at being a much better team and a national contender. Put this same squad in the hands of a first year starter at QB with unproven ability and no real game experience (Nuss or Howard) and it all goes up in smoke. We need Daniels to come back because he is, by far, our best quarterback.

I'd rather give the job to the guy that will help us win games.

7.7 yards/attempt
12 TD
1 INT
150.3 rating

Rushing

If anyone in his camp tells him to leave he should find a new camp. Another year of development and success could earn him way more $.

altiger, thank you for being the voice of reason. It’s amazing how many people simply can’t think logically. JD has carried this team. By any measure he is our best player not just our best QB. All this is esp frustrating when the alternatives are unproven young players who have either never played or played poorly. It makes me question how genuine their support can actually be.

There’s nothing you can do to negate the fanbase’s love affair with backup QBs.

I don’t dispute that, but there’s a difference on being stoked about a player giving his all and winning, and calling JD a good QB. They just look at his stats and ignore the in game performances. He’s a good PLAYER. We have too many good receivers who are not being utilized properly.

I would love for him to shoot Bama’s lights out next weekend, will happily eat crow. But after 40ish starts I think he’s peaked as a passer.

He is not a gifted passer nor can he read defenses well. His biggest asset is his running. His third down conversion rate passing the ball is absolutely horrible. He does not have the characteristics that the NFL is looking for.

He is a good college QB and that is all he will ever be.

Word when he came to LSU was he wanted to be 1 and done so I'd imagine any decent draft grade and he's gone. Maybe any draft grade. Guys like that who transfer are looking for the fastest route to NFL and if he continues to do what he's doing, his stock is going to fly up on boards.

Bama is his money game. If he shreds them he's gone to the NFL.
