Regardless of your feelings about the CFP expanding to 24 teams, it has.

I looked at the CFP rankings after the regular season concluded last year, and every SEC team ranked 9-3 and better was included in the top 24.

Granted it was an odd year with the SEC being very top-heavy. 7 teams won 10+ games, and Texas was the lone 9-3 team (and ranked 13th in the final CFP polls).

What’s interesting is that Mizzou and Tennessee were essentially 26 and 27 with an 8-4 record.

What this means is that 9-3 easily gets you in, and maybe even 8-4 some years.

9-3 is very attainable under Lane Kiffin moving forward.

Not sure every year but with the committee now using conference strength, I would assume some 8-4 SEC teams will most years.

It will become a huge fight for the title with many sec teams getting in. Just like in baseball. Cant wait not watch a 24 team playoff...

On a side note, bowl games should be reduced to new years day games only or eliminate bowl games all together. A playoff will be way more interesting

Conference championship games should be eliminated for sure imo. Top 8 teams not playing in them would have multiple weeks off. The CCG hurts the teams playing in them.

It would be fun to watch but if they eliminated the title games, id be good....start the playoffs earlier.

People would call me dumb and thats fine but id love to see 32 teams(final amount of teams) in and no bowl games. Bowl games are shite and players opt out. Playoffs hold teams together.

A real playoff system would be a ton more interesting to watch. Prestige would go to teams who even advanced in the playoffs one round. Jmo of course.

16 - 17 games to win a title assuming no CCG and top 8 get byes. Matter of time until a first round player for a top 8 team ends up with a major injury in a round 2 game against a 7-4 Pitt.

Whatever happened to the sacrosanct “player safety”?

Reminder that in 2 years of 12 team playoff, top 4 seeds with byes are 1-7.

Too much time off is not good.

That has never been anything more than PR.

Or play the bowl games the start of the following year. Honestly there would be some solid matchups.
