Cecil Collins vs State 1997. He rushed for 172 yards on 22 carries. Didn't have as statistically big of a game as he did the following week vs Auburn. But since he couldn't play in 1996 and the UTEP game wasn't televised, most people saw him for the first time that night on ESPN2.

Was watching some of his Leesville film the other day. Very sad! Played in 6 or so college games and went to the NFL! Beast!

I wish I could understand why these talented guys just throw it all away.

Really sad.

Cecil was mentally ill. This isn't a kid smoking weed and failing drug tests and wasting his future.

He was breaking into women's apartments and watching them sleep. And doing god knows what else to himself while he sat there.

And he was a repeat offender.

I don't remember if he was suspended for UTEP or not, but he definitely didn't play. The State game was the first time he ever stepped on the field.

This is true. It sort of makes his a sadder story, though.

Possibly the most talented RB I have ever seen. Yes, a waste. That does not diminish the talent he had.
