Brian Kelly was able to keep ND relevant and in the playoff conversation and even had a trip to the title game, AT NOTRE DAME...let that sink in. He was able to be relevant at a place that's VERY HARD to recruit to. It's EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get into ND, so you think even HALF of these 5 stars or even 4 stars qualify to get into ND?? I highly doubt it. So Brian Kelly not having those qualifying restrictions and a far a better recruiting area, yea I'll take my chances with BK

Winning that much and still playing second fiddle to Alabama would be equally frustrating to me
Which is why I said Saban has warped so many's minds. He wouldn't be the GOAT if what he's done was something other coaches could just come in and do. And "what we're paying" is pretty much market value for top tier coaches these days, don't know if you've seen what a lot of other schools are paying for HCs now. So yes, winning 1 title and making other CFP playoff appearances and winning at least 10-11 every year would be a successful run.

I have a strange thought. How about we let the guy coach a season before we start all the negative crap. Just a thought. lol

YOU are expecting 3 titles. You speak for YOU.

Me and the circle of people I operate in aren't cool with only getting to go to one natty in 10 years.
What if we go 10-2 every year and win nothing?
see mark richt

Coach O won one and some weren’t happy about that.

You assume that competition in whatever football league LSU is in over the next ten years can be judged by the standards of college football over the last 20 years. It won't be because it will no longer be college football. It's going to be a professional league.
There will be contracts for players. There will be no more academic requirements. You could see a guy like Deculus play for a team for 10 years because he is not NFL material and won't need academic eligibility to play. The affiliation with the university may be limited renting the facilities that are in place. With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, the question arises of whether LSU will play against any teams that aren't in the future SEC.
If Brian Kelly can build a program from basically 0 to one that wins 10-11 games regularly in future SEC, that is elite territory.

Is that the level of success we are okay with? 100m for one title?
Consistent winning and at least 1 title? Yes, I'm happy with that. Some of you people act like we have to win every year, and if we don't, then we suck. Most likely none of us have ANY investment into this team besides season tickets and a TAF fee. So if anyone cannot enjoy winning 10 games a year consistently, you have deeper issues to deal with. It's college football. And the reason he's getting 100m, is because of mentality of "We need to win a national championship year in and year out". We should be grateful for consistent SEC titles.

Everyone was happy. Only morons wouldn't have taken that at the beginning of his tenure.
That doesn't mean that you have to keep him on board if, after the championship, the program clearly begins to trend downward.
Orgeron was rightly fired. His tenure was monumentally successful overall assuming Kelly can pull the program back up. If the damage done is unrecoverable, then Orgeron is going to be viewed as the guy who killed the program.
Mainieri's tenure was successful. Baseball is a lot different. It is/was easier to win, and LSU is an elite program. Honestly, Mainieri probably slightly underperformed here but not by much.

So do nothing until Saban retires? Hire a scrub off the street for 100k a year because LSU can never be elite until Saban retires? What a tool!

Yet another example of just how stupid some of LSU’s fan base actually is.

Which has not happened at all.
He has made an arse of himself multiple times in that month.
Same shite we've been watching just with a bowtie and some brown sketchers.
Ok I see you’re one of those people that give a flying shite what the national media says about LSU.
As long as the recruits like him and he wins games he can sound like foghorn leghorn and dance like my drunk uncle and the national media can cry all the way to watch us play in the National Championship.
