There were many plays where the LSU defense simply knew what was coming. They were flying to the ball, especially on running plays.

Little easier to stay quick when you’re not on the field three quarters of the game.

That speed is also possible because we have 2 coaches on the field in Weeks and Benefield. They put everyone in the correct position. This will be similar to the 2009 defense with Beckwith and Highsmith who also had high football IQ along with talent. Weeks and Dottery may be in the discussion of best LB tandem of all time. Still got a ways to go but great start.

I think the defense last year was fast, it was just 1 guy at the ball and missed tackles.

This defense locks on to the ball carrier and there are 3 more guys there in the blink of an eye to finish the job.

More than quickness, outside of the garbage time Clemson TD drive, I dont know if there was a single missed tackle, or if there was it got cleaned up immediately by the pursuit.

I got those same vibes last nite… 2011 defense vibes… they disciplined too.

A 2011 comp is very high praise...but certainly valid at this point, sure. Such excellent execution.

The Defense goes off on their reads. They show one look, once the ball snaps, look out. They show the QB one thing, the QB thinks he sees something, but the reality changes once the ball is snapped.

Look at the Ross INT, looked like he was coming, then drops back in coverage, a designated call!

This team is going to get better each game!
