Can LSU really afford to go out and hire a top-notch OL coach?

No LSU athletics cannot afford the cost of top notch OL coach, but can it afford not to?

LSU loses millions by not making good bowl games.

Stud was not helping recruiting and his OL hasn't prospered or had much success moving to the NFL. It's time for a change.

Maybe another back-end heavy contract like Cameron's for a coach who will still see residuals from a former NFL gig? Also, Stud was drawing a pretty hefty check, was he not?

SEC bowl tie - ins are in place and all proceeds are pooled and divided among the Conference and each school. No?

Yes, LSU merchandise sales skyrocket as a result.

Fans are energized and excited about the program when going to a good bowl game.

If Bob Bostad was let go with the rest of the Bucs coaching staff, he'd be an amazing hire. He killed it at Wisconsin with their O-Line. I'm sure he's got plenty of recruiting experience, too

I forgot to add about fans being energized about the program when making a good bowl, fans may donate more to TAF and not to mention more donations from alumni.

many on here were stating they were giving up their season tickets or just paying the minimum to TAF after the Ole Miss debacle and the announcement of the outback bowl.

To be fair, he wasn't exactly in the best position to succeed.

He was. I've been saying we should hire him for years now.

Like I said earlier today though, not sure how he would combat the criticism that LSU OL can run block but not pass block.

I'm sure it depends on what happens with Ensminger as well, but yeah I'd imagine they would have to get creative with the contract structure. Chavis and Cameron will both be over $1 million next season, and Frank/Henry/Raymond/Haley all command a competitive salary to retain them.

I want to say he was around $500k in 2012 as OC and went back down to $300k or so this year. I think it is at least in that ballpark.

Coached at McNeese for years. and yes, that is college football. Guys at that level have to coach just as well to attain and maintain success

I'm pretty sure it was at 500k both yrs. I think they didn't reduce it this yr because he coached the 2011 season on his old OL coach salary, so it was kinda back pay, if you will.

also not sure how they dealt with Krags' contract this yr. it was reduced in 2012 from the OC number, not sure it was done again. might be some money there for the new OL coach.

If you have been around the game you realize something real quick

High school coaches laugh at junior high coaches
College coaches laugh at high school coaches
NFL coaches laugh at college position coaches.

NFL is the Mecca. That is where you actually get coached the proper way

Anyone In here thinks that an 8 time All Pro does not know proper offensive line play is just an idiot. Guy would be a slam dunk of a hire for LSU.
