What are your thoughts on cancelling the spring game? Texas and USC have just announced they do not plan to have one. I personally don't see the benefit. But I can understand brand exposure and getting the fan base hyped up for the season. Thoughts?

I think its dumb to cancel, its gives a preview of what's going on. Plus lets guys play infront of a crowd that wouldn't play at all in the fall games.

Seems to be more downside than upside at this point

Make it a private practice/scrimmage. It’s an awful product for TV anyway

I doubt they cancel at this point because it's already scheduled
maybe next year they forego it

It would be a cuck move, IMO. And I hate using the word cuck

I feel like it’s been cancelled due to weather fairly frequently so I don’t think that would be too much of a roadblock

I agree. Considering on how very little we see creatively of the team it just doesn't seem to benefit anyone.

I think there are guys who won't get anything out of it. I don't need to see Nuss out there, for example. But I think it could be beneficial for other guys. Does LSU still do that bye week scrimmage with the under classmen? Something like that.

LA has too much crap going on. Our attendance was always poor comparatively speaking

Leave it up to the coaches/players. If they feel it is important and beneficial, play it. If not, no big deal.

I can't remember the last time I watched a full spring game...or even looked forward to it.

With a spring transfer portal, no way in hell Im holding a spring game so other teams can watch and poach.

Need to be adding to the spring game making it more fan friendly, with autograph sessions and what not. Not cancelling. Ask fans to give money and then cancel an event, what a world we live in.

Another example of College Football trying to drive off fans.

They ruined recruiting already, pretty soon they'll drive all interest off between January and August.

I wish it would be like a true game. Literally split the team in 2 with a good smattering of talent between the squads. Then let them play for keeps - short of maybe hitting the QB. I'd keep the playbook limited so you don't show too much off but let them actually play.

Punts, kickoffs, everything. Band playing. Night game. Make it as close to a real gameday as possible.

I think it could probably be a moneymaker if they marketed it the right way. Since the university obviously doesn't care about making money in basketball, you could probably use some gate revenue. Charge $10, sell booze... the whole sha-bang.

Ive always thought the spring game was dumb. Lets be real its a glorified practice. Have a legit fan day like a meet and greet and call it a day

Honestly don't care. It's just a repeat of the scrimmages that they have the three Saturdays leading up to it anyways, just open to the public. I totally get it for teams that play deep into the season though. I mean the national championship was exactly a month from yesterday

This is why programs and coaches are cancelling. Because it allows other teams to get an eyeball on your redshirt freshman DL and see how he’s developed on ESPN no less and then they can reach out and offer NIL to him.

I’d much rather a big meetngreet and autograph signing. Let people onto the field. My kids would freak out for that. They don’t enjoy sitting in the sun while the team practices.
