He’s an outstanding professional.

He’s not a homer.

LSU is a job for him, not a love for him

Just like most coaches and increasingly, most players, he is simply a hired gun.

Nailed it. This is THE reason for the complaints.

People want to listen to someone who loves the team as much as they do. They want someone who agonizes with them when something bad happens, as well as jump for joy when something great happens.

They don’t just want a professional, they want one of them, who just so happens to have a great voice, and the ability to call a game effectively.

Charles Hanny absolutely should be calling baseball. He did so with passion and I really enjoyed when he was calling baseball.

He’s the only one that’s sorry about McMahon not being around anymore, now he gets to be the blandest guy in the department

He’s horrible at baseball. The tv announcers are quicker to describe what is going on.

Hanny would have been a disaster
He proved that when he did games one season

Chris Blair calls games like he doesn’t like LSU. There was no mistaking Hawthorne’s fandom. I miss the passion.

Jack Hunt scores, Jack Hunt scores. Yeah we need more of making the wrong call in a big play moment

Rollins has done it multiple times this season - multiple. People just don’t bitch about it

Hanny & Hunt

I think Hunt replaces Blair whenever it happens. Hawthorne was a huge homer, and it was great when we were winning. He got old and kinda whiny. So they went with Blair the professional, but without any ties and no genuine personality and LSU fandom. I think it swings in the other direction next time. Assuming that’s 10 + years from now. If it’s sooner, it could still be Hanny.

Have you ever heard Hanny call a game
before. He’s got an awfully monotone voice. That’s ok as a color guy but no good for PBP.

He’s always about 3-5 seconds behind every play. You can hear the ping of the bat and he waits 3-5 seconds to say foul ball or sharply hit to the SS or whatever. He’s difficult to follow.

That’s actually how you want the game to be called.

The biggest complaint here about Hawthorne was he was often too early on calls.

Graff is a homer for the Pels, people dont like him.

Strief was a homer for saints, same thing

What you seek is almost impossible to find…

Blair sounded like someone who is bored watching a baseball game. I get it. It was a long baseball game today, and it took a long time to get to the point where Dardar came up with that huge home run, but, damn, Blair doesn't even sound like a baseball fan the way he called that. That was an awful call for one of the biggest hits LSU has had so far this season.

The “Hey Now” thing sounds like the high school in stadium announcer we had in the 90’s. Terrible
