What would be a bigger tell than the only play you take from under center is a QB sneak. No way the other team could figure that out.
this, JD is pushing 50 starts, it ain't happening

when is anyone ever confused about a QB sneak from the 1 yard line .
Its not meant to be deceptive.
Then shouldn't it be called a QB obvious?

OK OK OK - it's way past noon - but technically this IS the first belly chuckle of the day so you get the award
- it's been a bad day already -

They struggled with QB sneaks when Burrow was at LSU.

Bama blocks a punt and it goes out on the OM 1 yard line. Bama has the biggest O-Line in CFB, and a 240 pound QB. So naturally go in shotgun from the 1, center airmails the snap on 1st down, and they eventually settle for a FG
Makes no damn sense at all
sense? no. but it brings joy that it happened to bama.

I really thought they were going to lose the game after this sequence. Ole Miss just could not get anything going offensively but that was a hilarious series of plays.

I was watching the Florida game replay last year and Daniels took at least one snap from under center. He can do it. Has done it.

I hate it too, but it must be related to Daniels' abilities
Well, this must be true, b/c if not, the only explanation is that our head coach and his staff are imbeciles
Is that what you 12 downvoters are saying?

This is the dumbest shite I’ve ever read. No one ever tries to disguise a QB sneak. It’s the most effective play in football. You don’t have to disguise it

I’ve seen a lot of QB sneaks not work.

Could not possibly agree more.

I don't think it gets worse than watching the Panthers subbing out their #1 pick Young for Andy Dalton on 4th downs because they don't think Young can take a snap under center.
Wait it wasn’t that Dalton is significantly bigger than Young and that would be helpful since all you are trying to do is move the pile forward.

Context is important here...it's not that they are uncomfortable with the snap...it's that we are more comfortable with the shotgun, because that's what we use most times.

I hear you but Jayden Daniels is not Jalen Hurts.
Hurts is a very large strong human

It’s not the snaps that are tough about going under center. The footwork and timing are way different and that’s the part of JDs game that is inconsistent, so why make it harder for him?
Also, teams go under center to establish gap scheme run game and play action passing off of that. LSU runs inside zone about 80% of the time so you would have to dramatically alter the run game scheme. You don’t want your qb turning his back to defense on iz with no way to read anything. That’s a recipe for a no gain play

Don’t think you quite understand. It’s more than just a center-QB exchange. The whole line has to get countless reps with Jayden to be in sync with his cadence. This works better for pro style teams like Michigan because they can move off the ball much faster than a spread team who’s 99% out of the gun because they have developed chemistry off of the QB’s cadence.

What you are asking here is if the QB and center can go home when practice ends. What you meant to ask was if they could stay. If you remove the word “not” from your sentence you would be asking the right question.
More than likely you were looking to add emphasis. If so you could have asked, “Why can’t the…”

You actually think Kelly and Denbrock would risk their prized QB getting injured buried under a pile for a one yard gain??? But, I agree not utilizing the sneak play when you need a half a yard is one of the more frustrating aspects of modern football. Like, dude...just get the first down/touchdown and move on. No reason to overthink it.

It doesn't make any sense. We went under center twice against Grambling iirc, once for Daniels to spike it and once with Nuss at the 1. If you watched Philly last night when they scored 20 pts, that under center play is virtually unstoppable with the push downhill. We need to mix this in once a game just to keep the D honest.
