I just hate that 2:30 time slot and that LSU vs Georgia at this point looks it’ll be like a top 5 matchup as a fricking day game in Tiger Stadium
If they were smart, they'd put this game primetime. It's a no brainer.

The way college football is currently televised is horrid and CBS is the worst of the worst. TV should not dictate the flow of the game as much as it does. The NCAA and the conferences should stop being such pushovers in this regard. I contend, the value of the broadcasting rights are the same regardless.
Auto racing manages to not break away from the action and get their advertisements in. Soccer (not that there's anything wrong with that) manages to not break away from the action and get their advertisements in. There's no reason that they can't show us a fifteen second commercial every other play stoppage in split screen and never have a single commercial break. We could watch a third more football games in the same 12 hours if they were allowed to naturally progress with no TV timeouts.
The guy who wears the big orange gloves would have to find a new career, though.

Except that CBS gets first pick of the games to air each week and can choose one week out of the season to have a primetime game. If Georgia is primetime, then LSU-Alabama would have to be a day game on CBS. Which of those two teams would you rather play at night in Death Valley?

I'd rather CBS than some other channels. Watching that UT USC game yesterday looked like I was watching on a TV from when HD first became a thing.
Some of these games are ridiculous though with the commercials. There is no reason for a game to push 4 hours.

Cbs is the best production out there and so is Danielson
You people are nuts.

day games in the summer suck, the commercial break takes a lot of the flow of the game away. Plus they are so long.

Yeah, the games take forever, are stopped way to often and way to long (for commercials and, especially, unnecessary reviews by officials) and the announcers are going to pimp other teams and games later in the day, but that's all the current state of college football. And although I watched the game w/ my family and probably didn't hear every little nuance the announcers said, I thought they were good. I've never understood the hate Gary Danielson gets from the Rant. We just went on the road and beat an SEC hated rival that's a legitimate top ten team. Man, enjoy the experience!!
Everything about that game was horrible except the ending. Announcers sucked, commercials every 2 mins, and an almost 4 hour marathon.

Eh I think the production and how big the games feel is something cbs does better than anyone else.

I think that day game with Georgia in 2003 was the loudest game we’ve ever had. (My ears vibrated longer after that game) Turned out pretty well for us, so maybe we can have the same magic this year.

think they worked out something in the contract where CBS can pick one game per season for a primetime slot, which is how LSU-Bama has been a night game in recent years. Unless something changed in the contract, I would think CBS is saving their night game flex for that one instead of UGA
They’ve always had one predetermined night game at the beginning of the season. Forever it was Florida Tennessee but then shifted to LSU Alabama from 2011 on. In 2011 it was predetermined to be Alabama Florida but when GOTC happened they cut a deal with espn and the SEC to have a second prime time game so he GOTC could rightfully be in that slot. Hopefully something similar happens this season with LSU Georgia.

I will take CBS over FOX anyday.
If FOX would broadcast SEC games during prime time at night, sign me up.
CBS shows one night game a year. Meanwhile, ABC and Fox show night games every week.

CBS = Commercials Before Sports

They also show games at 11 and 230. You can not have every game at night. We’d all rather have night games in Tiger Stadium but for the life of me I don’t get why so many LSU fans get so but hurt about day games away

As much as they suck, Whats a solid alternative? Fox? I would say ESPN, but they got rid of most for their legit crews.
Posted on 9/16/18 at 11:12 am to LSUTigerDDS
There will always be a 2:30 game. The league office wants gamed throughout the day. Maximizes exposure and ad revenue.

And so are users
I can't wait til one logs into Netflix and sees that it's $199 for the LSU Auburn game.

Annual streaming subscription of all Tiger football games, thank you.

Why would you feel bad the players? Kids today can't handle the heat now?
Posted on 9/16/18 at 11:40 am to Y.A. Tittle
Pushovers? They get paid mucho dinero for the broadcast ‘rights’. Do not intend this to be trite, but when people stop watching, things will change. It’s all about the money. 100% about the fiat scrip issued by the feds.
