Les was canned because of one reason. He hadn't beat Alabama since 2011. All this other BS is only a smoke screen.

uh, no, it's a lot more than Bama.

It's because since 2012, Les was 15-11 in the SEC (10-10 against the SEC West). All with elite recruiting classes.

Check the figures since 2005 and get back to me with the SEC programs having a better record against Alabama than LSU.

Well, I'm more interested in what's happened since Saban has been there.

The "hate" is largely due to the "hire him cause he's one of us" crowd. And where does this "he loves LSU" idea come from? I mean does he love it more then any other job that pays millions?

The program will not be on its death bed unless we quit recruiting, or don't recruit well. We can overcome a failed hire of O, if it fails, almost immediately.

Bring in someone who cant recruit and then loses, and we are back where we were 20 years ago.

If O is HC and goes 6-6/7-5 next year, recruiting will suffer. Thats just a fact of life.

Ha ha. He is 55 and has been coaching for 32 years.

Also it's amazing how all the pro orgeron posters would give him all the credit when we won games yet dont lay blame at his feet. Its actually the exact opposite of what our last coach went through.

2012 class was 18th and there are numerous sec programs that
recruit just as well as lsu and havent been more successful.

to make a blanket indictment of Coach O A\and say that all coaches that have been HC are better is just not true.

When you're hiring a cfb hc you want a candidate with the fewest amount of question marks.

Has the candidate ran a successful offense?
Has the candidate ran a successful defense?
Has the candidate ran a successful program?

Ed Orgeron has never done any of those things.

Man I hope they retain the guy on staff by offering him more in incentive to stay. People forget how much our defensive line play fell off through the years. During his tenure we have gotten better and the future looks even better. It would be weird not to see Him roaming the sidelines motivating his unit on game day.

So dukke, are you going to stop rooting for LSU if Coach O isn't given the head coaching position?

I don't see that this is happening, but if it is - you are 100% right, it should stop immediately. He is a huge asset to LSU and has done a fine job in a very difficult situation.

I guess I'm just too stupid to realize that I should be content with 10-10 against the West. Silly me. Bring Les back.

Les was fired because he promised to change the offense and didn't. Plain and simple.

I want him involved and LSU football in some capacity. I hate that the USC thing makes it feel like it's head coach or bust for him

Think what you want, but Les would still be here if he had beat Alabama one or two times since 2012.

Joe said it was all about winning and then he fires a guy who is winning since 2005 better than any school in the SEC but Alabama.

I hope I am wrong, but I more and more see Joe fricking this hire up in some way just like he did with the basketball hire.
