Of course I watch football. And I know what I see on the field which appears very biased. I also fully understand both the impact of uncalled or ignored penalties and the impact of contextual timing of penalties. Breaking the data down to that level would be outrageously hard though.

If reality meets my, and many other tiger fans, perceptions there should be quantifiable data even with excluding ignored penalties and in game timing.

For instance if Team A's opponents are routinely penalized significantly more than their per game average penalties against other opponents.

Or if multiple teams have suffered a higher than average targeting and ejection rate in the 2nd half of games just prior to playing Team A.

I was more interested in the targeting calls. We’ve all seen them and the fact that everyone else allegedly had two before Bama had one just seems odd to me but I hope it is true. I agree with you on us being biased and yes we get some good calls and we get some bad calls...I hate blaming the zebras however I can search around this forum and find who knows how many gifs of Bama targeting that went uncalled and all the other shite they get away with ie. triple hold, Patrick Peterson divot, etc. I know I’ll get downvoted for this but I think we got some good calls last week vs MooState. It happens for us sometimes (like when CBS has a potential #1 vs #2 matchup) but the Gumptards get it all the time in our eyes. OP has a good question if anyone has any concrete data it makes it much better when arguing if you are spilling facts not just opinion that is common sense but still your opinion.

So OP basically asking is there any objective data out there that supports the subjective opinion of ref bias Well is there?

The "not called" penalties are the hard part. Nobody keeps stats on penalties that aren't called.

And not all complaints are related to penalties. A bad spot can have a big impact for instance. Or incorrectly calling a pass complete/incomplete.

Or the refs preventing a snap for no reason when the defense doesn’t seem ready

Do you have any stats to back this up???because if it’s true that’s pretty amazing with all the bs we've seen the Gumptards get away with.

This was a couple of years ago when targeting first started, but yes, I remember looking it up myself and Bama was the last team in the SEC to get one called and upheld.

As far as we know, there isn't. And for the most part complaining about officiating is a waste of time. But I'll go to the grave believing that Alabama gets all the calls when it matters. I've seen it too many times.

Just look at the SEC Rant thread about Muschamp’s comments regarding officiating.

You have fans of 12 schools berating SEC officiating bias. Florida fans are sitting this one out, while Bama fans are fervently defending the officiating while attempting to ridicule everyone else.

That should tell you all you need to know.

It’s time for the SEC to replace the cancer that is Gumpistan, or for the other 13 schools to start their own conference. Add FSU, Miami or Georgia Tech to get the total to 14 again.

The quality of the timing of the penalty is important. I.e. Vols scoring a TD against Bama- flag!, Vols then knocking on the door to score against Bama- 3 Flags all different penalties!

You know what other officiating calls they don't keep stats on?

If I remember correctly, many Bama fans agreed that this was a bad call but then went on to say that LSU’s offense hadn’t done anything all game so it wouldn’t have changed the game if they got the ball back anyway.

Someone on this site posted a nice breakdown of SEC penalties going back to when Saban was at LSU. I think it showed that penalty forgiveness seemed to follow Saban. But it’s not as easy as listing the stats. Things like stopping the game when a team comes out in the wildcat doesn't show up in any stat.

Bama’s last four coaches have had at least one team that led the conference in fewest penalties.

Saban’s LSU team were some of the most heavily penalized teams in the league. At Bama his teams are always near the top in fewest penalties.

This. ONCE AGAIN, it's not about the total number of penalties or even the penalty yards. It's about the flow of the game and teams getting favorable calls and no calls to help establish momentum in critical moments during games. Just of the spot of the ball is manipulated by some of these corrupt refs. Watch the games!

You're not going to find data on the amount of holding penalties, lineman down field, WR's blocking down field before the ball is thrown, etc. that isn't called against Bama. You may be able to compare that to other teams' averages but I don't think that'll give you the true picture.

excellent video.
easy to see how bad these SEC REFs are.
i hope the Tigers stomp the Turds Nov.9.
also, hope the REFs show their bias once again.
