Even with a loss to Bama. Or with 2-3 losses.

LSU is doing something never done before by this program.

It's hard to argue that he's not the reason why.

(Remember, Tebow won his in a year with 4 losses)

There are other qbs putting up similar numbers- I think he definitely has a shot but will probably have to beat Bama or at least have an amazing game against them.

On teams known for putting up those numbers.

That's why Joe and LSU are such a big story so far

I feel like the Heisman award has changed enough that a 4 loss season won't ever win a player the distinction

Luckily for us, we won't sniff anywhere near 4 losses this year

So did Leonard Fournette.

But Les Miles' offense, with tendencies telling Bama where and when Fournette was likely to run, enabled Bama to shut him down. As a result, in one of the most ridiculous slights in Heisman history, Fournette wasn't even invited to the Heisman award ceremony. Meanwhile, Alabama's goon runner was given the award.

So the past being indicative, if Bama wins out, Tua will receive all considerations ahead of Burrow. Just the way it is.

Having said that, until our D gets its act together, we have a LONG way to go before Bama. Florida and Auburn both look very good.

has zero to do with winning the Heisman. If LSU loses a couple games but Bama is undefeated in the playoffs he isn’t winning it

4. LSU (4): Speaking of wild stat lines, Joe Burrow and the LSU offense are out of control. Engaging in a shootout with Texas can be a result of circumstances, but the Tigers have been absolutely blowing through every defense they've faced this season.

He is NOT the leader. Beating Bama or OTHERS not performing have to happen., otherwise he is just a candidate.

I hope you are right. But when I listen to sports radio (people who are Heisman voters), they seem to favor Jalen Hurts. They like his story. They don't care that an OU quarterback has won the past two years. I've heard the same thoughts on several shows.

It wont be too hard for the elite teams to beat us.

Keep our offense off the field by controlling the clock with a balanced attack. We have no pass rush and atrocious tackling, so this wont be difficult to do for a couple different teams.

Shut down our our running game and neutralize Burrow by taking away the crossing patterns over the middle. Elite defenses led by top notch coaching will be able to do this too.

As far as the original original, Hurts is going to win the Heisman and Burrow has no shot because Bama is going to beat us by at least 3 touchdowns. Saban always takes away the offenses bread and butter. Once he devises a scheme to take away the middle of the field, Burrow will look very average.

No he won't. The media is developing its human interest story.

Here's the storyline: 2 QBs transfer to seek their fame and fortune, but only one is destined to meet up with (ex-coach) Saban in New Orleans. Spurned ex-Alabama QB Jalen Hurts seeking a better life after the evil-doer and NC slave master Saban set him free. Burrow sets out to prove himself in defiance of nay-sayers and will drive a stake in the heart of ex-LSU NC coach Saban for betraying the team. Loved them-left them. They will find a way to let the underdog Hurts find the Holy Grail.

I don't think you could be any more wrong. Burrow is throwing across the middle because he has elite athletes OPEN across the middle. He's also made plenty of throws and completions on other parts of the field. I'm not ready to crown him the Heisman trophy winner just yet, but to minimize his accomplishments thus far is ridiculous.

The true chess match will be professional (Brady) vs professional (Saban). It will be fun to watch. But to throw your hands up in the air and just proclaim a loss two months before it happens is just stupid. Let's at least watch it unfold first, ok?

Win the remaining games and beat Alabama on late game heroics and he's a shoo-in. That's the only way a Heisman Candidate from LSU has a chance of winning the thing.

God I'm loving this.........
