#LSU QB Joe Burrow makes it official, saying at his news conference that, "I’m not gonna throw. I’m not gonna work out.” … So the top 2 prospects — Burrow and Chase Young — both won’t work out at the Combine.

Also commented on the Bengals speculation.

Kat:

Joe Burrow was just asked in several different ways if he wants to play for the Bengals. He said he wasn’t going to presume that they wanted to pick him, would play for anyone. Said Cincinnati is 2 hours, 15 minutes from home.

Schefter:

quote:

So much for the idea of Joe Burrow not wanting to play for the Bengals.

Burrow: “I’m not going to not play. I’m a ball player. I’m going to show up.”

Good for him. I thought he might do it because of the competitor in him wanting to put on a show, but it makes sense to skip it.

Stock can only go down. He'll kill it at LSU's pro day with his receivers on a field he's used to.

What does he have to gain by working out at the Combine?

So the combine is just for marginal players to show out now and hopefully gain some exposure? Looks like some of them are skipping it too.

Maybe the combine should be on the way out.

Top picks are insane if they work out. No reason at all for him to actually workout.

The NFL should adjust, you know the top half of the first round isn’t going to workout so bring in 15 extra guys or so

They’ll never get rid of it if for no other reason but to get standardized measurements and conduct interviews. It also serves as a league convention.

He has absolutely nothing to gain by working out at the combine.

I am not surprised by this at all. Burrow has nothing to gain by working out at the combine. There is plenty of film showing what he can do.

I do not put a lot of stock into combine performances. Everybody can look good throwing in a dome, on turf with no defenders. I am glad Joe made this decision

Totally agree. They have the time for it.

He's got plenty enough tape out there to show what he can do, might as well let other QBs get more exposure. Main thing he's there for as teams are concerned is his interviews so they can gauge if he's Big D*** Joe or simply Joe Burrow when things aren't going his way like it did all season last year. Main thing they are trying to figure out is if he's humble enough to not be a personality if the team is going 4-12.

He has an entire season on film to show what his capabilities are. Dude threw 60 TD’s. What else is there to know? Don’t think him not working out has any affect whatsoever on his draft stock. He’s going #1.

He has nothing to gain. Makes sense.

I don't know why Moss is skipping though. He hes a ton to gain. I don't think working out at LSU's pro day will improve his stock. It's all set up for him to look good and scouts know that.

Why should he? He has zero to gain from it.

Yea Moss not working out is dumb. He’s marginally draftable as it is.
