LSU quarterback Joe Burrow met with the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday, which marked his first chance to sit down with head coach Zac Taylor and members of the organization.

One day later, news is beginning to leak out to the media about how the face-to-face meeting with Burrow went for the team who holds the No. 1 overall pick.

And if ESPN NFL reporter Jeff Darlington is correct, there should be no more debating which direction the Bengals will go.

quote:

"That was never being brought up in the meeting, the idea of whether he would play if he was drafted No. 1," Darlington said. "What did certainly come up was football. And I can tell you that from speaking with a person in that meeting, they were blown away by Joe Burrow. He said that he was like 'a 10-year vet.' That he 'exceptional'.

"I think after hearing the way this meeting went down, we should absolutely expect Joe Burrow to wind up No. 1 with the Cincinnati Bengals. And both sides seems very clear, despite maybe some of the rumblings that existed in the past few weeks, that if he were drafted No. 1, he would be playing for the Bengals."

Wouldn't be surprised if some in that meeting were "oh.......hadn't thought of that".

Really wish he could go somewhere else.

I wonder how much pull Joe will have to get some of his fellow LSU teammates to go play with him in Ciny!!!! If I was joe I would try to get Cush and Clyde for the other two first round picks

They need Olinemen more than they need CEH. Not to mention Mixon is a great running back and Bernard is a solid backup.

I know Cincy has been a poorly managed team for the last few years, but they did have a playoff run from 2011-2015 so they are not that far removed from being a decent team. Burrow could come in and be a catalyst for turning that team around.

It would make for a good story with Burrow being an Ohio kid. Hopefully they can put some quality around him and find some success.

I guess instead of vandy, he will just have to drag his nuts on the Steelers sideline next year

I mean it’s the Bengals.

Joe may very well have been the most accomplished person in the room.

Joe was absolutely the most accomplished in the room. 100% there wasn't another championship holder in there.

The question is if he knew the most about football, I'd give even money he did.

Didn't the Bengals have two starting offensive linemen sit out all of last year due to injury?

Every team in the NFL is not far from being a decent team. Normally it's just the teams with someone special at the QB position that propels teams to Superbowl contenders. It's rare for teams without a really good QB to make it to the Superbowl much less win it. I think the last team to win the Superbowl with a serviceable QB were the Ravens with Trent Dilfer at QB. The Ravens' defense was all world that year.

I feel like such an a-hole for feeling this way, but things like this make me feel so proud. It doesn't surprise most of us to hear this, but it's still so awesome to hear. #thatsmyQB

The talent on the Bengals is not a big issue. The overwhelming problem has been with the ownership. As has been noted before: no indoor practice facility, the only team in the league without, smallest scouting dept. in the league, smallest budget for assistant coaches. penny pinching all over the spectrum: players are only allowed a set number of power drinks..players charged for taking too many. etc etc etc. Joe can't change that dynamic.

The last team to win the SB with a manager qb was the Broncos with noodle arm Manning.

He can to an extent. #1 pick and the new face of the franchise can do a lot that an average player can't. Not spending more on assistants but at least stuff like the drinks and maybe even bitching enough to get a practice facility.

LOL. Not saying they won't take him, but if their intention is to shop the #1 pick, do you not think they would let it leak how he is a once in a lifetime draft opportunity?
