I would happily switch every bubble screen with play action. Sign me up!

When Percy Harvin got the bubble screen it was an automatic 12-15 yards. It works with the right athletes.

I cringe everytime I see lsu or anyone else use this play. 90% of the time it's a loss, 1 yard gain, or holding. I just don't get it, always seems to be a waste of a play to me. I'm sure it works here and there but fails way more often than not.

DB's have gotten so good at reading it, if they ever faked to the back man, released the blocker, and threw downfield it would be great.

it's a wasted play bc the blocking is not sound.

blocked right, it's effective as anything else.

three reasons I can think of.

1. It works some times. It us usually a one defender critical play - you beat him you bust one.
2. Makes the defense cover the field side to side.
3. Wears defenses down especially ones that are already tired.

Reference the Philly/Altlanta Monday night game. Kelly gets those guys running wide left and right on an up tempo and keeping the same players on the field. We obviously do not run the up tempo and HUNH but it still makes tired guys run.

I think we run it more to just make teams defend it because we run between the tackles so much and need some help spreading the field.

I've seen fake punts run for touchdowns before... doesn't mean we should call those plays 10 times a game either.

LSU has had a lot of success with the Jet Sweep over the years.

Skyler Green, Shep, Dural, etc.

I don't think we should necessarily run it 10Xs a game, but I have no problem with 5 times a game

Outlier that definitely doesn't represent the majority of fade plays....solid.

Not true. Our problem is the pass is either behind the line or we chunk it down field. I would love to see some play action passes to the TE in the 8-15 yd range.

I would like to see more of the WR screen that we used to run with Doucet all the time. I think I remember it every once in a while in 2013. Never less than 5-6 yards and often much more.

eta:
This was actually what I believe we called the bubble screen, but I think the OP is referring to the quick out, almost lateral pass to the WR that requires the WR next to him to block his man and the receiver to break a tackle.

The bubble screen doesn't work for LSU because we play in a crowded box against bump coverage. Other teams call that play against softer coverage after they have done the work to show the defense that they can execute deep passes against that type of coverage.

With the type of WR's that we have, we don't need to be fricking around with that horizontal bullshite, anyway.

How many times did we call the jet sweep the other night? I will give you the answer - 2. Once it was touchdown which was called back and the other was a 17 yard gain.

I pointed out that we called in 4 times in 2 games last year with an incredible average yards per carry.

I would never suggest we call it 10 times a game, but 2-4 seems to be working pretty well.

I bet your playbook and playcalling would be incredible.

I'm still trying to figure out why we never use fournette as a pass option. Dallas used their rbs great the other night in the receiving game, would like to see him featured like that. Fournette is a beast receiver and we never just play action and dump it down to him or in the flats. This offense is so elementary it's ridiculous. These coaches get paid millions for the most basic shite. You have to sometimes use fournette as a receiver he was fricken great at it in high school.

You dumb.

When properly executed, this play can be explosive. See: the NFL.

Way to really narrow it down there pal. It doesn't work plenty of times in the nfl too moron.

That was your question. I answered your question. I would have agreed with you had you mentioned Guice in the original post.

Not enough time for that. QB would be sacked every time.
