31-27 for a .534 winning percentage
Woof!

Do the same for other top coaches like Riley and keep us posted, you will find very few have a high winning percentage

I think that’s why he is coming. He has hit a ceiling at ND.

Where does that fall with others?

Probably doesn't count his 5 wins vacated in 12-13, but it counts the 4 losses.
5 wins boost it up to .571

I have him at 22-23 vs the Top 25 at Notre Dame according to Wiki. Sub .500

Run the same data for Ogeron and let us know.

Now run your simulation with better onfield talent and athleticism.
I'm no prognosticator, and ND attracts quality young men of strength and character, but I observe the talent level from the south to be very strong. With quality coaching, that talent can be molded into greatness imho.

Check Saban at MSU then kick yourself in the arse.

Makes you appreciate what Les Miles and Ed Orgeron were able to do
LSU being a king maker or not, they still had to put in the work to get there. Ed O at the end demonstrated that LSU is not a completely self-running football machine.
Here’s to Kelly continuing the tradition and winning more natties.

ONLY some fkn LSU fans would whine about a coach with an 85% win percentage in the last 5 years. Post Covid year in there as well. 70% in the last 12.

o will def be better. O had more top 25 wins than total losses.

Well, when your opponent's combined W-L record is 1000 wins and 50000 losses, it makes one pause

Nick Saban was BARELY over .500 at MSU until his final season before coming to LSU. Les Miles struggled against top 25 programs at OSU (other than two surprising upsets over OU). Ed Orgeron was terrible at Ole Miss. All three won national championships at LSU.
A coach can design all of the plays and elaborate schemes his brain can think of. It is the players that still have to execute it. That execution works a whole lot better when you have the absolute best players doing it.
But since Kelly's resume isn't good enough, please tell the class which AVAILABLE coach has had tremendous success vs. the top 25. I'm sure given the choice LSU would have hired Saban, Dabo, maybe even Kirby Smart over Kelly. But since those other guys weren't leaving their current jobs your options become a bit more limited in the real world rather than in some video game simulation.

LSU should've hired Ed Orgeron!
