Hence an example of Notre Dame investing more into the program than they were previously.

This article suggests otherwise:

Elko left Notre Dame over a roughly $400,000 difference in salary offers.

I don't believe this is true, at the time multiple insiders said LSU offered more money but Freeman wanted to return to the Midwest and Notre Dame was a better situation.

So you guys were paying Rees $2M a year and he went to Bama for $1.9?

I'm always surprised how people look at sport programs. One coach against another coach. When you win it all you are just lucky that all the cards came together. This might happen in a coach's lifetime or not at all. It's just pure luck. If it was coaching he would win every year. You have to have all the best horses at one particular time. That happens maybe once , twice, or never.

his KDS is reaching TDS levels. It's actually hilarious. And what's really funny is the LSU haters that agree with the ND haters. It is so stupid to try and compare ND today with ND when Kelly went to the playoffs/NC game. The game and landscape have completely changed in just the last 2 years. And if it wasn't for kelly where would ND even be.LOL. The stupidity of it all. Why wouldn't Kelly be pulling for ND? Really? It's all about him? According to hemedia it is as they are the ones making it about him. I have always hated ND even when kelly was there. And I hope OSU stomps them in the NC game so all of this stupidity will end. And if ND wins then good for them. Freeman will have finally done what Kelly didn't although on a different level field. Without NIL and portal the SEC would still be dominating anyone they play in NC.

Definitely true.

Coaches get far too much of the blame when things are bad and far too much of the credit when things are good.

Gee, who are we supposed to believe? A media that crapped all over Notre Dame for years that is now calling like they see it or a bunch of LSU fans who are stuck with ND's old coach?

Here’s a question. Did ND play for a national championship while BK was head coach?

Now tell me how (until ND actually wins one) are you “BETTER” now? In detail with citation from credible sources please. Because last time I checked, playing for a national championship is not better than playing for a national championship. They are EQUAL.

You’re full of shite. Yes you beat Indiana (who lost to every ranked team they played congrats). Penn st (shocker Penn st choked and dropped two wide open TDS) UGA with their back up qb who also dropped two wide open tds. Other than that you’ve played no one in the top 20. Final rankings are all that counts. You’ve kicked your way to where you’re at and it’ll show come Monday at around midnight when you’re back to being a laughing stock.

No.

We have been investing continuously for more than 20 years. Among other things:

Guglielmino Center was finished in 2005 - would be about a $40M price tag today

Refurbished in in the 2010's for ~$20M

Stadium renovation in 2017 was $500M

IAC was finished in 2019 and was in the neighborhood of $50M

The football facility - which was already in the capital planning process when Kelly left by the way - is a continuation of everything we've been doing since Willingham's tenure.

That article is wrong. A&M went up to $1.8M, and we matched. He was looking to move on.

I don't believe this is true, at the time multiple insiders said LSU offered more money but Freeman wanted to return to the Midwest and Notre Dame was a better situation.

And multiple insiders on our end said that we exceeded LSU's offer. I don't disagree with the people who said that the Orgeron thing likely played a bigger role, but money was not an issue.

He was making pretty much the exact same at Notre Dame as he did at Alabama - right around $1.9M fully-baked. He went to work for Saban which is a no brainer.

Bottom line is that money and resources are not and were never an issue for Kelly at Notre Dame absent maybe the first 2 - 3 years with some assistant coaching salaries, which was quickly rectified. We've been in the top 5 - 7 in revenue every single year going back to the 90's - you really think money is a problem if a coach wants something? He started with a 4 year old football facility barely out of its infancy for frick's sake. It's a canard he played repeatedly through some lackeys in the media to wash away some of the stink of his first seven years.

And Freeman isn't getting anything Kelly wouldn't have gotten, NIL, facilities, or otherwise. To suggest otherwise is laughable.

Source: Trust me, bro

I think it's true that Notre Dame has made strides toward the end of BK's tenure and going into Freeman's, however they still don't appear to be bringing in elite level, natty winning type talent.

I mean, there's a reason they're a 8-10 point underdog.

If Freeman wins, then that means BK was dead wrong about Notre Dame's ability to win a championship, at this point though, they don't look much different to me than 2012, 2018, or 2020. There just isn't a 2012 Bama, 2018 Clemson, or 2020 Bama in the field this year.

My thinking is 'Notre Dame' loved Brian Kelly... and 'Notre Dame' forced out Holtz, considered the Holtz over-rated, ant not 'Notre Dame' material.

Whatever your agenda is and whatever your narrative is, Brian Kelly left Notre Dame and not vice versa.
