Nuss balled

You don’t really know that. He played well in the first half 20 of 24. He was 9 of 14 for about 120 yards in the second half. And on the last couple of drives he looked very bad. That’s when games like this are won or lost.

If Burrow had folded like that on the last two drives against Texas, Bama or Florida we would have lost those games in 2019.

Maybe Kelly should consider how they killed drives over and over running the ball when it wasn’t working. I couldn’t stand Kelly when he was ND’s coach. I tried to like him as LSU’s coach even though I hated the hire. But this guy is an absolute clown. Kelly can take that loser Woodward with him as well.

That missed screen to Anderson near the EZ where he threw it to his feet should’ve been an easy TD.

It was a horrible throw, but I didn’t see a TD there. There were two defenders and one blocker about 10 yards downfield of the receiver. If Absent a great play by the unblocked defender, it would probably have been a first down.

The LSU defense held down the six td qb well. Nuss did not go up top much.

You know, except Burrow was worse than that early in 2018 in getting his first regular season starts. He didn't start clicking to the end of 2018. The play calling was atrocious. You didn't mention that. Also, you didn't mention JD last year to open the year against Florida State in the second half. He was non existent. It appears Kelly does not have the ability to adjust during games. He appears to have a tendency to stick with a game plan, even if it ain't working.

It is sickening that Kelly is making over 800K a game to put that product out on the field....then instead of owning it, he throws the blame on everyone else but himself.

I'd say he did not go up top at all, and that was obviously the game plan by Kelly/Sloan. Inexplicable. He was given plenty of time. You can't put a muzzle on Nuss.....it takes away from his strength which is a cannon for an arm.

How does LSU continue to find coaches that have no idea how to make any kind of in game adjustments? This is insane.

True, but only because the LSU coaches were afraid to put the game in his hands. Nuss outplayed Moss in the first half but then Kelly decided we needed to run the ball to win. USC was not afraid of their QB and trusted him in the second half.

Everyone’s blaming the coaches for this but isn’t it much more likely that they didn’t want to go deep because they don’t trust Nuss. He’s had interception problems in practice. He’s not ready to air it out. BK has always preferred to constantly pressure a defense deep. He doesn’t feel like he can do it with Nuss. That’s the problem.

No he didn't. Nuss was the one bright spot.

He was. But their guy made some very clutch throws when it mattered while Nuss kinda shite the bed on that last drive.

He did outplay Nuss

Moss was willing to step up in the pocket and take hits. I’m fairly certain Nuss didn’t get contact all game. He refused to climb the pocket, he threw off his back foot constantly, and also refused to keep the ball on any read option

I agree, but I also think play calling in those games was in Burrow’s favor and allowed him to get into a rhythm to close out the game.

A lot of people on here are basically calling Nuss a choker but how can he execute and close out a game when the play calling hasn’t allowed him to warm up and get comfortable making tough throws? Reliance on the run and play calling geared towards short passes aren’t going to magically make a green QB close out a game.

Moss was making plays at the end of the game because the play calling allowed him to be comfortable and execute when it mattered most. The play calling did Nuss no favors. We all know Nuss has arm talent. The play calling has to put him in a position to execute. USC put Moss in a better position to execute and win than LSU and Nuss. End of story.

It ain’t all on the play calls. Go back and watch it again. He missed reads that would have kept the offense on the field.

I’m not denying it, but that’s also not really my point.

You don’t think that opening up the playbook earlier in the game would allow a green QB to get more comfortable and make those reads?

Respectfully disagree that Nuss played bad, more the attack plan was scattered in disarray.

The second to last LSU drive started with a run up the middle, then a great completion and then a disorganized run play leading the the last punt

The announcers commented several times that USC's interior linemen were big and put on strength and size, Kelly continued to attack the middle with the run game

Not by much, but he did. Nuss left 14 points on the field. Moss did not

Someone should ask Nuss. I'll bet he isn't happy with himself. I saw him on the sidelines pounding his helmet on the ground. Not the action of someone happy with himself. Nobody is perfect, but he missed some good opportunities.
