You laugh but a few years back BYU essentially cost themselves a Final 4 when they suspended the team’s 2nd best player besides Jimmer Fredette for this reason right before the NCAAT.

BYU is obviously a little more extreme but some places do take it seriously

They also kicked out their best football player before the Liberty Bowl. Media tried to stir up controversy. LaVell Edwards shut it down by saying "He knew the rules when he signed here."

Dumbest part is that you get off with a warning the first time if you aren't LDS. So those athletes had to screw up a second time.

I’ve known people who went there and I guarantee no one actually follows the no sex rule.

TRant- LSU need to fix their weed policy. It’s killing them with current players and recruits.

No. I'm the Tennesse Fan that congratulates LSU for picking a coach that will lead them back to an NC. And do it with class. We need leaders within the ranks of our collegiate athletes (and coaches), not ghetto. There I said it.

I was an LSU fan until you folks allowed one of your RB's to get away with sexually harassing (he was just taunting her) an elderly woman. An elderly woman trying to support herself by holding down a security staff job at the SuperDome.

I certainly hope Brian Kelly instills discipline in this team. Including discipline in the way they conduct themselves in public and around women. Regardless the age of the women.

Thank you.

I doubt most 18-20 years would follow that rule.

On a lighter note, you would think a Catholic school would not mind their students screaming

"Oh God" , 'Oh God" as much as possible????

No. There is no such rule.

I spent a year at Notre Dame before transferring to LSU and the discouragement of premarital sex is very real. Our fellow poster Jay Quest spent four years there and he will confirm that the rule does exist.

It's a Catholic university and there should be an expectation of such rules. Being a good southern girl, the rule was not an issue for me. Jay, on the other hand, will burn in hell for his antics there.

One of my friends from high school was suspended from BYU for a year because his ex-girlfriend told the school they had engaged in premarital sex.

God, yes GOD, intended that sex should be between A MAN and A WOMAN in a covenant relationship. A covenant relationship declared by the participants before the community, blessed by a priest (or minister) and duly consummated. One Man and One Woman forever.

Marriage is total, exclusive, and open to new life.

That model has worked for my generation and my ancestors for centuries.

Now howl, screech, and downvote away.

Why does the church care so much about what people do with their bits and pieces? Model has worked for centuries? Right because divorce and infidelity and rape aren’t a thing…

puritanical roots

I know what you were trying to say thinking of the scarlet letter written by Nathanial Hawthorne. But the Puritans were English Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries who sought to purify the Church of England of Roman Catholic practices, maintaining that the Church of England had not been fully reformed and should become more Protestant.
