Thank you! Best SEC forum and it isn't even close.

Honestly for me it depends on what the song calls for. In power metal you just need those cheesy catchy cleans and in this case it’s the combination of this plus guitar lead work that defines that particular genre. In melodic and technical death metal often it’s the instrumentation that caries the melody of the song. Often in these genres the guitar work is so busy that adding clean vocals would take away the genre defining characteristic of the music. Not to mention that it would be difficult to find clean vocals that would “work” over such complex melodies and counterpoint. In black metal the maniacal high pitch screams are genre defining and similarly in melodic black metal it is often the guitars that carry the melody of the song.

Although it may not be the style you are looking for, Inferi is criminally underrated. They aren’t a “new” band by any stretch but they are incredibly prolific and their musicianship is top notch. If you crave melodic technical riffs this band is for you. Their new album is called Vile Genesis. Below is a single from it.

Understandable. Setting the tension to allow for vibrato on an evertune can be a balancing act on certain guitars.
Have you tried a guitar with an evertune bridge? If not you should give it a go.
That Taylor custom is beautiful

I’ve owned various flying Vs over the years but this one has become my main workhorse. Solar guitars are no bs and have all the features I love and nothing more. The evertune bridge is amazing.

Yes it should have a headphone out and two balanced outs but the latter would be for studio monitors. You can use a 1/4 inch adapter to convert the headphone jack to RCA or whatever you need if you are using computer speakers. The Scarlett 2i2 is just one example of a solid interface and there may be cheaper ones out there such as the Scarlett solo or the motu or maybe something from audient depending on your needs.
Software like Guitar Rig 6 is usually used to digitally emulate an amp using an audio interface and a computer. This is usually used in conjunction with a DAW (digital audio work station) or a stand-alone version of the emulation software. A popular choice for audio interfaces would be the Scarlett 2i2. This would be used if you wanted to jam or record on your PC. Software like GR6 isn’t typically used to play through an external amp but I’m sure there are some tutorials out there to help you out. You would have to turn off any cab emulation (impulse response) and route your signal back out through an interface or re-amp box then into the FX receive jack of your amp. Not sure I fully understand your specific needs but I hope this helps.
Lol it’s all good I should have articulated myself better. It sounds much more complicated than it actually is.
Yes Reaper is a fantastic DAW. I jumped ship from Pro Tools and never looked back to be honest. You then need to download an IR loader. Place your amp in front of the IR in the signal chain. If you are using newer plugins like Neural DSP, for instance, the IR can be loaded directly from the cabinet section of the plugin. It even comes with stand alone versions so you don’t have to load the amp sim in your DAW if you just want to jam.
re: I heard that Lars was the Lou Pearlman of Metallica.

There’s no denying that Lars is the business man of the group and that he plays an integral part in the writing process - specifically arranging and editing riffs with James. But from a strictly technical perspective, his drumming is pretty awful. Sure he was better 30 years ago but even then he had tempo issues and his fill transitions were meh. If I recall correctly Metallica even considered giving him the boot in the mid 80s. I mean he’s got the snare crash thing… so there’s that.
re: What band changed the most for you over the course of their career?

Ulver comes to mind for me. Started out as black metal and now they are experimental electronica.
Is he bringing all 5 of his brain cells with him?

Whatever on earth are you talking about?
You appeal to the model of marriage through Christian church saying that it has “worked” for hundreds of years. I’m saying it’s nonsense because being married in the church doesn’t preclude one to infidelity, rape, etc etc.

I know what you were trying to say thinking of the scarlet letter written by Nathanial Hawthorne. But the Puritans were English Protestants in the 16th and 17th centuries who sought to purify the Church of England of Roman Catholic practices, maintaining that the Church of England had not been fully reformed and should become more Protestant
I think it was used in the colloquial form rather than the historical.

God, yes GOD, intended that sex should be between A MAN and A WOMAN in a covenant relationship. A covenant relationship declared by the participants before the community, blessed by a priest (or minister) and duly consummated. One Man and One Woman forever.
Marriage is total, exclusive, and open to new life.
That model has worked for my generation and my ancestors for centuries.
Now howl, screech, and downvote away.
Why does the church care so much about what people do with their bits and pieces? Model has worked for centuries? Right because divorce and infidelity and rape aren’t a thing…
