I mean… kinda yeah

we are elite or great but we’re not a bad team despite our flaws.

Bad teams don’t win 10 games playing an SEC Schedule.

So yeah i’d say we’re at least “good” again.

I think getting Underwood here is the biggest thing for Kelly's future success rather than if they best Bama or not. The program is in obviously solid position with consecutive 10-win seasons and still in the playoff mix with 4 games left. And Baker looks to be drastically improving the D outside of the 2nd half issues with the running QB last week. If you add an elite QB to the mix who can also run, then you'd have a great offense with a good to great D.

I don't expect LSU's running game to continue to struggle into next year with the talent LSU is building up, so adding a versatile QB would be big for the future.

Every SEC game left is 50/50....All SEC games are 50/50 this year!

Brian Kelly era depends on this Alabama game

It really depends on whether we regress from the first 2 seasons, after losing the USC game and looking as bad as we did against Nicholls and South Carolina, I thought our floor was 8-4 and 9-3 was the likely outcome of the season, I still think we beat Bama and our home crowd carries us like they did Ole Miss but (if) we lose, 9-3 and another 10-3 season is very attainable. We can win the final 3 games of our season and I don't think BK wants to lose to TWO former assistants in the same season.

We have to realize here, we're very thin at the defensive line, running back, and defensive back spots for this particular season and don't have a capable backup to pick up for Nuss should he suffer a catastrophic injury (knock on wood he doesn't). We lost Emery, Jacobian, and Perk for the season very early. These aren't excuses, these are contextual facts to be considered in assessing this season. I said if BK finished the season with all the losses we suffered so early 9-3 or 10-2 it'd be the best coaching job of his career next to 2022. We can still do that but have to bring it and regroup starting with Bama at The Valley.

I want to see improvement. He said to judge him in year 3, and here we are. If we finish 10-2 or better, then I'd say he did a great job. If we go 9-3, then we are really no better off than we were the past two seasons. If we're staying the same or not trending up, then there's reason to be concerned.

if we lose to bama, which is highly likely, the season will have no upside to play for, and the remaining games will all become very difficult. Fla at Fla is never an easy game, especially with nothing to play for. Vandy is going to be a war regardless of the bam outcome imo. If we give full effort, we should handle Okla since they have no offense, but it will be ugly.
This is a big game with Bama for lots of reasons. I wish we knew how to stop a running QB, because we are going to see one of the best next week.

Because the definition of a big win for Brian Kelly keeps getting changed.

Definitely an inflection point of his career here. Things could go off the rails quickly with a bad loss to Bama.

Bad enough he lost AGAIN at A&M in the fashion he did.

What a stupid thing to say. Recruiting has improved every year and we were tied for first in the SEC this time last week. Still have a path to the SEC championship and a playoff spot too.

Some of yall need to get out of your feelings and look at the reality of the situation.

That’s fair; BK has the potential to be the best coach this school ever had, he brought stability to the program and instilled a culture of discipline and excellence that frankly his predecessors did not. As an LSU fan, I want to see improvement as well, this job is a top job in the country because of all the resources LSU provides and talent the state has. Unfortunately, and a lot of fans will get pissed that I say this, LSU football is a historically 9-3 annual program with a title breakthrough every few seasons, that’s just the facts of the matter, in the history of the sport we’re second tier relative to the blue bloods, we’re the same level as Texas, FSU, Nebraska, and Florida. Now, if BK breaks through and we go on a Saban dynasty-esque run, then we can change that perception, for now that’s just how it is. We’re locked in with BK for the long haul, I don’t necessarily see 3 9-3 regular seasons for BK as a failure but rather either maintaining our standard or setting the stage for long-term success with our recruiting classes incoming. Also, it took Saban 4 seasons to win a national title at LSU, we’re gonna be fine.

He said that when there was no NIL. Like everything else LSU was dragging behind because of state law. No companies are paying dudes to show their arse for NIL money. LSU is FINALLY able to get it right after last season. I’d say success depends on MONEY. This is an arms race that doesn’t have any boundaries. It will soon enough.
Those facts are left out.

Not in my opinion;Kelly is building a program step by step. The only coach that took over and produced a National Championship in 3 years is Saban ...and he did it twice in 3 years.
Kelly and all The contending college team now have to deal with NIL and the Portal to boot.
What I do want to see in the Bama game is a Baker Defense that can beat the likes of Milroe .We know what is coming....

This is a big game. If Kelly loses this game I wouldn't be shocked if we lose 1 more before the season ends. If he wins then I wouldn't be shocked if he is able to catapult this team to win out and potentially either get to Atlanta or get themselves into an at large bid for the college playoff expansion. Potentially hosting a game in Tiger Stadium.

The 39 scholarships is in the distant past. Is that the bar for assessing success now, Orgeron's last two years at LSU. If he could not greatly improve on that, then what was the point in hiring him? He has come up small in most big games. All three phases of the team were over matched and in the case of special teams, an abject joke. How long until he address that woeful phase of the program? Go name call someone else, friend.

This may well be the case. If Underwood bolts, Kelly and LSU will be sucking a lot of bad air. Another loss to Alabama will be yet more proof that Kelly is not panning out as expected.

These are all games that were considered big games in the lead up to game but seems none of them are considered big game wins for Kelly at LSU after he won them:

2022 #7 Ole Miss
Not considered a big game because Ole Miss finished season unranked.

2022 #6 Alabama
This is kind of still considered a big game, but a lot of people write it off as a 2 loss Bama team.

2023 @ #23 Mizzou
Opposite of 2022 Ole Miss. Not considered a big win because Mizzou was #23 at time of game, but finished season ranked #8.

2024 #9 Ole Miss
Not really being considered a big win because it's Ole Miss.

I do agree that Kelly needs to win the Bama game next week.
