Max Johnson hit the transfer portal as soon as the regular season ended last year because he knew he would inevitably lose his starting job to Garrett Nussmeier.

First he will loose the job to Myles Brennan before Nussmeier.

This week he's had the chance to catch up with former teammate Max Johnson, who transferred to Texas A&M after being LSU's starter last year.
Max did not earn the job.
Max is a pussy.

It would be a great story for him to stick it out and light it up this year. I’m not expecting “Heisman Trophy winner Myles Brennan”. I’d be very happy with “LSU Great Myles Brennan”.

Myles has the mental toughness you need to be a starter on the SEC, and the skill as shown by his throwing for 300 yards a game before he was injured. The offensive line has got to give him time to throw the ball but also the coaches need to help by not giving him long developing plays in an opportunin times. I think a lot of the criticism of him on many of those third down please was simply calling plays that took to long to develop and not giving him a safety valve throw. As much as we’d like to crown breeze from Tom Brady as the goats both of those players consistently had a check down or safety valve weapon throughout their entire career. Or most of it anyway Brady always had Gronk and good catching Backs, Bree’s has ms good TE and great catching backs mist if his career.
Nothing to flights a Defense more than a little check pass that ends up going for 20 yards. That threat will significantly slow down a pass rush as it could possibly be a disadvantage

I don't care who the QB is either, but I do feel like Brennan appears to have earned the starting role.
That said, I think Brennan is a privileged POS. I look at Arch Manning, and the kid appears to already have more poise and control of himself than Myles Brennan does.

B/c his family is loaded? Say what you will about the kid, but you can't discredit his dedication by sticking it out at LSU and not bailing.

But he did...just last year.
FWIW, I hope he plays at an elite level, bug entering the transfer portal just prior to the Bama game was chicken shite.

Because his family is loaded and he knows he has a backup plan (live off the family riches). George Bush Jr. types...

I hope that “something good” is a 75% completion, 5200 yd, 46 TD/3 int, Heisman-winning season that ends up making him the #1 overall pick in 2023.

I think he could have requested it last year, but I think there's some time frame on that.
A student-athlete can only request a waiver for medical hardship after the expiration of their eligibility per NCAA by-law.
quote:
quote:
Technically, couldn't he still get a medical redshirt and another year?
Here is the issue with requesting a medical hardship waiver for Brennan for a un-precedented 7th year of eligibility:
1) He has already been granted an extra year due to Covid/2020 not counting on his eligibility.
2) His injury (broken arm) was not football related, happened away from school on his free time while no official or unofficial training, team, or participation activities where happening. He was on Summer break.
All requested waivers submitted to the NCAA are forwarded to a eligibility review panel for consideration. IMHO, due to the factors listed above, the chances of getting a medical hardship waiver approved in this circumstance would be little to none.
There is a reason why there has been no talk of this coming from the Brennan camp. Their outlook is this is the last go round.

10/4, thank you.
Ballsy move on his part, considering the competitive talent. He must have some confidence to his abilities.

Did he need to? He wasn't on the team anymore.

Just calling it how I see it.
I can almost guarantee you that a guy like Brennan has had issues relating with teammates. I mean, he had the perfect example in Joe Burrow...Hopefully, the 5th year senior has it figured out and leads us to the promised land.

Fact of the matter is, he is a 6th year senior and hasnt separated himself from the younger guys.

They're all still learning a new offense, of course it's still a wide open competition.
Brennan has only started like two more games than Nussmeier and a lot less than Daniels.

We have to give some deference to the opinion of Boutte. We have milled this over and if our best receiver says it’s Nuss then we better listen. He also did give the others credit but was crystal clear as to who he thought was best.
