if someone emerges, do you really go back to Brennan?

By “emerges,” you have to mean “throws for 400 yards and 3-4 TDs per game,” because Brennan was doing that.

Even if one of them matches that, you have to go back to MB when he gets healthy. The others will get their shot.

I don’t see how he plays effectively again this season but Brennan is a tough son of a bitch.

Tore some cartilage around my ribs once. I could barely move or breath without excruciating pain. That boy is hurt.

Recovery ranges from 2-6 weeks. If this Saturday marks two weeks, that means 11/21 marks six. So... in a textbook world, anywhere from Auburn to Arkansas.

I’ll bet they play this conservatively though. I know he is dying to get back on the field, but rushing rehab at this point would be terribly short-sighted.

I'd say just get him ready for the home game vs Bama id possible. By that time we should have developed a decent run game to complement his passing.

I’m almost of the opinion to let him sit the rest of the year instead of possibly aggravating it again. The year is a write off, let him come back 100% next year.

agree 100% let the freshman get some reps and continue to view this season as what it is.... a get through year... keep supporting the guys trying to get better every week...

The way defenses are playing this year, its quite possible to match or exceed Myles numbers.

Who says you have to go back to him if a freshman with possibly a higher cieling can match or exceed him??? Just cause Its his turn?

If one of the freshman does match or exceed then yes he will get his shot but probably not at LSU.

That wasn’t the play he got hurt on

Any idea of which play he was hurt on? I would like to go back and review the video.

I remember back in the 2015 game at Alabama. Harris was hurt on a long TD throw late in the second quarter. It was only revealed how hurt he was during the off season, but if you know what play to look for, you can see that he is injured on it.

Hoping Brennan heals properly.

I think it was a TD pass to Marshall. Don’t remember exactly. But it was close to the goal line and Brennan got hit as he threw. Came up lifting afterwards.

I know recruiting rankings can be pretty flawed, but why do you think the freshman have a higher ceiling?

Brennan was the nation's #4 pocket passer the year he came to LSU.

Johnson was the #6 pocket passer and Finley was the #21 pocket passer.

I've seen it said by a few people and I just don't get it. Where does this idea that Brennan has a lower ceiling come from.

When asked, Orgeron said it was the hit along the sideline where he suffered the injury.

LINK

His upper body got snapped back violently on the hit. One of the Mizzou players was injured on the play and there was a break in the action. During that break, the cameras showed Brennan kind of walking by himself down the sideline without his helmet on. Two plays later he threw a TD in the process of being dragged down by a defender. I sure him having to extend arm to make that throw was very painful, but he was hurt on the hit.

It was an incredibly stupid decision by him. He had already picked up the 1st down and had plenty of time/room just to step out of bounds. At the last second he decided he wanted to unnecessarily take on the defender and now he and LSU are paying the price. Even the commentators talked about how dumb of a decision it was.

This wasn't a situation where he was running in the middle of the field trying to fight for a 1st down. Or one where he was trying to get out of bounds and the defender caught him before he could. At the most important position on the field with two true Freshman backups, it was a dumb play. That's not hindsight being 20/20. It was dumb when it happened...even if he didn't get hurt.

I didn't say he had a lower ceiling i said IF the freshman shows a higher ceiling.

Its all hypothetical at this point. Just making conversation and things to think about.

IF a freshman comes in and finds a way to match Myles stat line, why would the coaches automatically revert back to Brennan?

As you stated recruiting rankings can and alot of times are flawed. Especially when your talking #4 vs #6 pocket passes and in different cycles.

How was the competition in each respective cycle.

Rohan Davey just said on Moscona’s show that an injury like that would be felt by every type of movement that a qb makes and a shot will not cut it.

So....what I am hearing is that Myles Brennan is amazingly tough for finishing out that game. This is the kind of stuff that will win you a team.

Absolutely. Vocal leaders are necessary in a sport like football, but leading by example can be just as powerful. Guys will line up behind someone who puts it all on the field to win.

If I'm Myles Brennan, if the injury is that serious, I'd probably jut sit out. No reason to risk your health even more for team that went 1-2 against garbage arse teams and with nothing to really play for.

Sounds like we will be seeing a lot of Johnson and Finley the rest of the way.
