The problem I have is that SELU and Rice are very Lefty heavy. 6 of SELU's 9 starters bat lefty including the best hitter in the state. 4 of Rice's 5 best hitters are LH, 3 of them batting over 0.300. Latz, IMO, would have been very useful against one of these teams tomorrow/Sunday. Not that we wouldn't get one of those teams Monday. But if he throws Monday, then you are possibly throwing him Friday, Monday, Friday/Saturday. Which is 3 times in 8 days. Seems a little much for his situation.
Of course, I'm speculating with much of this. But I think they're sound assumptions. If Latz doesn't throw the rest of the weekend, then the plan was to throw him in garbage time all along? Seems odd. And if its the plan to throw him twice, then that seems a little excessive/risky given his history.
