Schools are going to start paying players directly. Where is the money going to come from?
It’s going to come from a reduction in sports, a reduction in coaching and administrative salaries and probably roster reductions of the sports the do keep.
I don’t know how they are going to work around Title IX, but they will have to for all that to be allowed.
One suggestion is a separation of the athletic department from the schools.
Another is if they are employees, it brings Title IX into question anyway.
Your question is valid and I have asked the same one myself, but I hear so called experts discussing this often and they always say it can be worked around.

This is ridiculous!! This past season was supposed to be “the year” with all the 5-6 yr seniors. She couldn’t break the top 5 in the conference and got run ruled out of the supers. OU & Texas coming in next year, we may not finish in top 10 in the conference next year.

I am fine with it as long as Howard Dobson is fired. Otherwise a pretty lame move. I am sure it’s critical for recruiting but could have waited one more year for sure.

Add Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC and we are middle to below average in the SEC in Women's softball. Oh well thanks Beth. As mentioned earlier Scott is like Meh to softball I guess.

Dude. 75% of schools would kill to have her. She's the one that raised the bar. Her accomplishments look great on paper. But, again, she's the reason for the high expectations.
