As a Jayden homer, I still think that's impressive at 361 pass attempts.

But no, JD still deserves the Heisman. He leads every other category and that's without even considering his rushing stats.

I saw yesterday where over 20% of his passes are behind the line of scrimmage.

For comparison, Daniels is at about 9%.

The completion percentage stat is easily countered by Daniels 11.8 yards per attempt vs Nix at 9.8 ypa.

and the yards were incredible from the check downs. No comparison to what Daniels has done.

The highest QB rating in history by a lot over Burrow
From Peter Burns Tweet
Heisman is a 2 player race right now: Two things that stand out

Production vs Top 25 teams:
Jayden Daniels: 1,694 Yards 13 TD’s
Bo Nix: 607 Yards 5 TD’s

Both have 3,500+ yards passing

Throws/Yards past line of scrimmage: Daniels: 82% Nix: 66%

Daniels has almost 900 more rushing yards or something to that effect.

Over 1/2 of his passes are at or behind the LOS.

66% of his passes are beyond the line of scrimmage. Daniels attempts over 80% of his passes beyond.

Per Peter Burns, 34% of Nix’s passes/yards were thrown behind the line of scrimmage.

18% for Daniels.

I would like to know how he came up with this stat. Because yards and passes behind the LOS are two totally different things.

Daniels plays in the SEC and has better stats. It should not even be that close of a race imo.

Add in the fact, that Nix left the SEC because he couldn't compete. Oh well, JD will ball out again against A&M this week and that should seal the deal.

Easy to have 78% when most of your throws are dumps to the RB or screens

Not difficult when you only throw the ball 4 yards downfield.

Here are the expanded stats from PFF

These are adjusted completion percentages because it takes into account drops. The 3 stats are adjusted completion percentage, what % of their throws come from that distance and whats the average target depth in yards from that distance

Over 20 yards
Daniels - 70.6% (absurd number)...16.6% of all throws; ADOT is 32.0 yards
Nix - 61% (also great)...11.5% of all throws; ADOT is 30.6 yards

From 10-20 yards
Daniels - 67.7%...21.1% of all throws; ADOT is 14.5 yards
Nix - 71.4%...19.6% of all throws; ADOT is 13.6 yards

From 0-10 yards
Daniels - 83.3%...44.8% of all throws; ADOT is 4.7 yards
Nix - 90.1%...39.4% of all throws; ADOT is 4.2 yards

From Behind LOS
Daniels - 100.0%...13.6% of all throws; ADOT is -3.0 yards
Nix - 99.0%...28.2% of all throws; ADOT is -3.2 yards

So what to take from this is Daniels is absurd long ball thrower. Nix throws a ton of passes behind the LOS (over 1/4). But Nix has the edge from within 10 yards on the short routes.

Honestly both numbers are great for each QB. Putting over 60% of your 20+ yard throws on target is absurd value.

34% passes at or behind the line of scrimmage. That’s 122 of his passes.

In comparison, JD had 54 passes like that.

His ADOT (average depth of target) is 7.0 yards for the year.

For comparison JD has an ADOT of 10.5 yards. A 3.5 yard difference on the depth of every pass is massive.

Nice to see CBK not-so-subtley call this out as well in several of his comments.
