Your post legitimately got me curious and took me down a short research path
Out of curiosity since you looked it up, any of those fail hard early, pick up and go elsewhere and dominate THERE, or were most simply at programs that had fairly low expectations and allowed them to grow into being better coaches without any real worry about getting fired? Also...got any starting years for them...as I think that plays a big part as well.
I honestly don't know the answer to that question.

I think we would be in a much better position going into this year had Brennan got more playing time last year.
I agree. This statement is irrefutable. More experience is pretty much always a good thing.

No reason to not play him after the Bama game.
I think the reasoning here was that the team and coaching staff really wanted to win double digit games and they likely felt they had a much better shot at that goal with Etling at the helm. Unfortunately this didn't pan out. It was a short-sighted mindset.

Rumor is Canada wanted Brennan to play over Etling but Orgeron didnt.
I don't put much stock into rumors, but it could be true.

I'll trust Canada's evaluation over QB talent over Orgeron's all day.
Definitely agree. Matt Canada's entire career has been offense. But once again, I can't back a rumor.

No he can't. We don't have fricking Cam Newton sitting on the bench

Also, can you name 5 coaches who had a history of losing records who turned out to be a great coach?
Name a successful coach that was fired previously and you will have your answer. The New England Patriots coach was fired by Cleveland I believe.

That was Holtz and Brown (to a degree)
The other 3 fall into the stuck around at the program with low expectations and turned things around deal.
They all started in the mid to late 80's except for Holtz. He started in '69 (

This is really all your argument boils down to. Sorry I don’t share your enthusiasm but I think most fans need a little more than this.
You took five words out of my whole post and decided to make a response. What I said is true. There is no way Eaux can possibly play as many freshmen as he did last season. He played every freshmen from last year's class except Narcisse. He only signed 23 in this year's class. There is absolutely NO WAY he can be forced to play over 30 freshmen this year.

That’s great...
So no fricking excuses.

That’s the only relevant part.
The ONLY relevant part.
His time as HC. Because that’s the job he’s applying for.
shite he was literally unemployed before LSU hires him.

Overreacting how? If anything, we haven't voiced our displeasure enough. O is still HC.

Simply put, what O supporters want to have happen is for people who have justifiably no faith in O as a head coach of this program to just put there heads in the sand and shut up unless you can say something nice.
The only alternative is to speak with your wallet and honestly stop giving money to a ponzi scheme with Alleva and O at the top.
I assure you these same O fluffers will be screaming and whining about how their ticket prices, donation requirements, etc all went up in order to keep paying for O and Alleva's horrid mistakes while at the same time dragging down the program.
It's kind of a sad cycle that people with no foresight force upon others. They think not having faith in the football team is a lack of belief in the players when it is entirely about the coaching staff.

If bitching/overreacting could move mountains, O would have been burned at stake last year after Troy.
Complain with you checkbook/or lack there of. Its the only language the admin understands.

And that resume is not even close to that of Les Miles. The hire should have been someone with a resume that was somewhat close to the guy being fired. A number 15 class is absolutely average in the SEC. If you thought that was good, then you must have worshipped Miles. Too many SEC schools recruiting well for LSU to fall behind. The SEC will be even stronger next year in recruiting. I was just curious to see what would be a disappointing season to you for next year and see how low you were dropping the standards from the Miles regime.

O pumpers say you should just shut up and take whatever happens to the program without complaint.
If everybody had this attitude we would still have either Archer or Hallman as head coach.

This should be the expectations question for 2018:
Are you satisfied with:
A) A 2-loss or fewer regular season
B) A 3-loss regular season
C) A 4-loss regular season
D) An above .500 regular season
E) wins and losses don’t matter
Anything below A) equals “we should have kept Les Miles.”

So no response to the positive on the field this past season
The nine wins didn't suck. The win over a top 10 team didn't suck. The play after the injured players started coming back after the Troy game didn't suck.
quote:
as it was the weakest schedule in awhile
And how many ranked teams did LSU play? The schedule strength does not matter and is not something LSU can control right before the season starts. After the fifth game of the season LSU went 6-2 with both losses being to teams ranked higher than them.
quote:
He will never have such an easy road to 10-2 and he couldnt take advantage
He will also never have Matt Canada, Danny Etling, etc and hopefully won't have to start two true freshmen on the offensive line. There are a lot of variables other than just stating the record or dreamed up record over and over.
quote:
The season was a failure after losing the bowl game
You wouldn't know failure if it slapped you upside your head apparently.
quote:
and he followed that with a very average recruiting class
Wouldn't an average class be ranked somewhere in the 50's or 60's? An average class is not ranked in the top 15. This may turn out to be the best class LSU has had in a long time. If the 2017 class doesn't beat it out.
quote:
Once again any belief that next year will be above average is based on wishful thinking, rather than historical evidence
Idiotic statement. Historical evidence tells you nothing about how good the players for the coming season will be.

Miles was fired so the program could take a step forward, not stay the same or fall further. Really not sure what is so hard to understand.
Miles was fired the day after LSU ran out of clock inside the five yard line after thinking the scored the winning touchdown. Miles was fired becase he promised to open up the offense and not doing it.

It's hard to understand how this became a discussion for the 100,000th time about Miles. It's your opinion that the program is the same or falling further. I don't share your belief based on the players LSU will have next year.

You just summed up the rant in one post. There’s a lot of apocalyptic thinkers that believe everything is terrible, awful and hopeless no matter what. Their mind is made up regardless of any information. If the news doesn’t fit their narrative, then just twist it until it does. It’s amazing to me how many on this site “know” exactly how everything will turn out. Their predictive skills are absolutely miraculous! Karnak The Magnificent reborn daily. I wonder why all of these people that “know” everything don’t spend their time predicting the lottery, stock market, etc,? Seems like that would be more productive for them.....
