then Saban losing to UAB would be more inexcusable than O losing to Troy, no?
Inheriting 3-8 /= 9-3, 8-5, 10-3, 10-3, 13-1, 11-2, along with supposedly instilling toughness and championship attitude the year prior.

He cared about the SEC games since he went 5-2 but I guess he just didn't care about UAB!
LSU was 5-3 as there's 8 SEC games. Are you sure you know how this works?

As stated above it takes some time instilling toughness with championship attitude and was dealing with players coming off 4-7, and 3-8 seasons.
Stop comparing the 2.

Uh, LSU beat Tennessee the very next week so you'd think they could beat UAB rather easily but they did not.

You brought up O and Saban. As if there is no difference between a Saban losing with a program coming off two losing seasons in a row and no NCs in 40 years with a O losing coming off 16 winning seasons and three NCG appearances. ITS NOT THE SAME THING!

The truth is, no college football program would have hired O other than LSU and that only because we have a joke AD.

If you don't like the bitching, tell your boy O to stop providing so much bitching fodder.

thats his go to. he brings up saban and O and then gets upset when people say stop comparing saban and o.

That was weak. Saban inherited decent talent. He went 5-2 in the SEC but couldn't beat UAB? Love your history but the talent level on the team and the coach is all that matters, not what a team did in the past 40 years

that was saban's 1st season taking over a team that went 1-7 the year before.

just stop while youre behind. saban took over a bad program and turned them around. o took over a good program and had historic losses.deal with it.
stop comparing saban's 1st year and O's 2nd year.

LSU was inconsistent that year. See last post as to why.

Without reading all this I take it some are trying to mount a defense of O by comparing Saban's worst LSU loss (UAB) to O's loss (Troy) and saying they're comparable 'bad' losses.

Ok, now let's compare them on the other end of the 'success' spectrum, i.e., their best accomplishments.

O has that solid bowl win over Louisville in '16 and a win over Auburn in '17. Did I miss any others?

They had decent SEC talent. I keep hearing that LSU should NEVER EVER lose to a team like that, yet you guys make excuses for Saban and want to hang Orgeron.

And as a reminder, my point was that losing to a 21 point underdog happens. It's not unprecedented at all. But of course you guys keep wanting to turn it into a discussion about who was the better coach - Orgeron or Saban. I never argued that Orgeron was Saban's equal. Heck, Saban HAS no equal.

Not allowing stupid decisions and complacency to set into your school is a fans job. Lsu IS a top team. Dont allow the"Good ole boy network" to set in or itll be a hard and long way to dig them out. Happened to us.

I am as nega-O-tive as the next guy, but just refuse to get on here and rag on O anymore. What’s the point - he won’t last here, the negativity has consumed this site and grown tiresome.

The only posters that bring up Saban regarding Ed are Cheerios desperately scrambling for some positive of the Orgeron occupation.

Those not brainwashed by the Ponamsky dogma laugh at the mere mention of the 2 in the same sentence.
