BK is coaching his 21st season as a D1 HC without a NC
How many D1 coaches stay a head coach for over 21 years?
The average first-time head coach is 43.2 years old, If he coaches for 21 years, he will be 64.
Most D1 head coaches are retired before turning 64. Especially if they've been a D1 head coach for over 20 years.
How many more years do they coach after they are 64 and have been a D1 head coach for 21 years?
I'm surprised any coach has won his first national championship after being a head coach for 21 years.
Of course there are extremely few coaches who win a championship after 21 years.

You gotta be at the right place too. You cannot win a title at the vast majority of the schools in the country. LSU is one of the select few that you can.
This is why the post is disingenuous.
7 years at CMU and Cincinnati are counted in the 21 years.
Kelly went undefeated in 2009 Regular Season at Cincinnati and was not given a chance to play for title under the BCS system.

There are very few coaches today who have even been a head coach continually for 21 years because they usually get fired.
Ferentz and Mack Brown have been doing it awhile, can't think of anyone else.

100%. Fans love to post stuff without any context just to reinforce a narrative.

God this is so stupid. Okay, go ahead and don’t offer competitive contracts to candidates and enjoy being labeled as the school that lowballs and never lands anyone of significance.

The odds of Kelly ever getting it done are not good at all!
I agree....
Please pay $70 million so that we can get rid of him. I hear Ed Orgeron won an NC in his 6th year as head coach. He is available to come and work for us and from what I hear, he is a real gentleman around blondes. He also knows how to utilize fishing holes and how to disassemble a roster.
Also he is at the same intellectual level as the LSU fan base so there will be a superb intellectual fit there.

Let hire Ed Orgeron. He won one in his 6th.

Kelly will not sniff an NC. He’s too old and he’s a fraud.

What does this mean?

The question is can he beat 2 elite teams back to back or 3 very good to elite teams back to back to back because that’s the only way to get through the playoff now? Has he ever even done that once in his career?

Kirby Smart
Mack Brown
Dabo Swinney
The pool of championship winners is very small. All the other coaches with 20+ seasons would fail your litmus test too.

Hard to beat 2 truly elite teams back back, I don't of anyone off the top of my head who has.

That’s what he’ll need to do in today’s college football environment. Do you think he can?
I have my doubts and I like BK.

Orgeron, he beat 3 top 5 teams in a row in 2019 and 7 top 10 teams that season. Kelly has beaten 7 top 10 teams in 21+ seasons. Think about that

Orgeron beat Oklahoma and Clemson back to back.
And no I don’t want Orgeron back.

And he isn’t an outlier, somebody does it pretty much every year.

Ah, my definition is different then, I didn't really see Oklahoma as an "elite team" that year. They just played in a weak conference.
I don't see Indiana as an elite team this year either, despite their record.
Posted on 11/13/24 at 9:24 pm to SidewalkTiger
They beat 2 top 25 teams in a row and 3 in 4 weeks (#8, #12 and #22) before we whipped em.

Still….
Not one viable option for a replacement has been given
This place better be careful. If not we’re up to y’all, you’d run out every coach after a loss and you’d be left with nobody

In any event, BK will have to do that to win a championship and he’ll have to do it back to back given the new playoff scenario.
He has a hard enough time doing it once, let alone twice in a row.
Do you consider A&M to be a better team this year? Alabama?
