I think a 6 year deal for about 54M fully guaranteed makes sense. Get it done!

If BK cares one iota about his coaching legacy, he had better consider another job at a big school, because the entire nation is aware that he lost whatever he had with his performance at LSU.
Let's root for the Nittany Lions....whatever that is!

Dude was winning 9-10 games a year. In many places that is totally acceptable. He’s just a dick.

But you replied to the answer of why didnt they… LSU knew there was a possibility of brian kelly sitting on his arse. They werent going to release BK fully without an assurance he would look for employment… i.e. penn state type job

What if he goes and gets a media job?

The expectations at Penn State are also not as crazy as LSU.

The coach they fired was in the semi-finals a year ago

I dont know. I think the mitigation clause has something in there about having to be at a reasonable market rate

What do you think the market rate is for a CFB media analyst?

The only thing Penn State should be doing is thinking about moving to the ACC and getting away from Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Indiana, etc... ACC has been much weaker.

If PSU fired James Franklin only to end up with Brian Kelly, I can confidently say there will be riots in State College

I was just up there this past weekend for the Nebraska game and there was zero mention of Kelly.

I think the way things went down will light a fire under Kelly's arse.

Kelly is going to be highly sought after. They would be very lucky to have such a high quality, proven coach. Kenzel would be a good fit there as well.
I know this is a joke, but they just got rid of the motivated version of BK. The one whose only fault was that he couldn't take that next step into elite status. No way would they go after the same guy, but less motivated and loses the games he should win.

IMO, he should go to Oregon St or Michigan St. He would actually stabilize them. He could go to Oregon St for about 3.5-4 mill, which would put us at owing him 5-5.5 mill a year. He could go to Michigan St for 6-7 mill, which would put us at owing him 2-3 mill a year. I think he could have a consistent winning record at both places.

Kelly mailed it in 2 years ago and is in retirement phase of life. He's not turning down free money from LSU to go take a job elsewhere.

You don't fire James Franklin for not getting to the promised land and replace him with Kelly, another coach exactly on par with Franklin.

Penn State most likely just Nebraska'd themselves.

I can confidently say that, if Penn State hires BK for more than 6 yrs, $54 million, LSU fans in BR will be partying extra hard when that oen hits the paper and all those "THE PATH" signs will be burned!
