Coaching:
-First of all, I’ll go ahead and clear this up. If you’re one of the people whose already saying Brian kelly is a bad hire, you’re an idiot. First year for coaches anywhere in the country is always the toughest year. You must get a whole new staff, create new relationships in recruiting, implement your style, change the culture. All of this takes time…. It’s called a process… Let’s be honest if our team was sooooo great we wouldn’t be looking for a coach in the first place. Whether its life or football, change doesn’t happen over night, it comes with time. It’s not like he took over the 87 Chicago bears roster. Orgeron left this program a complete mess with plenty of holes to fill. However, I have plenty of trust in Kelly and I think he’s gonna do just fine. Come back to me on this one after he finishes a whole season
-Obviously offensive line was pretty poor to say the least. But I was extremely upset with the passing concepts and scheme denbrock was running. Seemed archaic, lots of long developing routes. Not much of the rpo concepts. You would think with how bad the right side of the line and our entire oline was, we would’ve at least tried to do some quick 2 step drops, slant routes, pick patterns. Just get the ball out quick to our nfl WRs. Literally the strength of our offense/ team. Just don’t understand it, to mask a bad offensive line you get the ball out quick to ur playmakers. We were not creative at all at doing that. Denbrock needs to be more creative in getting the ball in our playmakers hands… period
*side note
- Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe his first year at bama
Defense
- 3rd down, 3rd down, 3rd down.. we couldn’t get off the field. Florida state did a great job of getting in 3rd and short situations where the playcall wasn’t predictable. Jordan Travis had me completely fooled, kid is a helluva player. Defensive line looked to be overhyped once smith left the field, didn’t look bad but not elite. Too many missed assignments on the edge that allowed Travis to get first downs. Linebacker looked subpar, lots of missed assignments in gaps. Greg penn looked to be extremely fast, however needs to be more physical. Harold Perkins is a freak of nature and needs to play more. Also Baskerville needs to start seeing the field more. Not much to say on the secondary since FSU necessarily didn’t have to beat us in the passing game to win, we will learn more about them as the season goes I feel.
Offense:
-Well as I mentioned above, I was disappointed in our creativity in the passing game. Also highly disappointed in our inability to get the running backs involved. I learned that it’s a big drop off after John Emery as of now. Otherwise, the coaches would’ve gave Cain/Goodwin more carries.
-Jayden Daniels- kids an extremely gifted athlete, didn’t have a great first start also didn’t have a bad first start. Considering it’s his first game with a Brand new team, offense, coaches. He did enough to win the game and showed some flashes. Offensive line did not help him to say the least. The one thing that disappointed me with Daniels was the way he went through his progressions. It’s almost as if the first option wasn’t open he was immediately tucking and running. Kid needs to keeps his eyes down the field more and go through his reads. He has too good of receiver at his disposal. As I mentioned above tho, I was not ecstatic with the passing concepts denbrock was using.
-offensive line is still veryyy bad, especially at tackle. Will Campbell had a bad first half but handled his own in the second. Not bad for a true freshman LT in his first start. The inside was OK. But all in all, this group has a long ways to go. Maybe slide tremond shorts at right guard and put Bradford back at RT because Cam wire just doesn’t have it. The kid was getting bullied on literally every play and was a huge part in our struggles. I wish him nothing but the best but football just isn’t his future
Special teams: nothing to be said but they were HORRIBLE and the reason we lost. Nabers shouldn’t be returning punts anymore ( bet he didn’t drop one punt in fall camp) sometimes that’s just how evaluation goes. Big Difference in practice and in actual game. Blocking on field goals was also horrendous and needs to be fixed ASAP.

I don't remember but did any of the running plays have pulling TE's or guards?

I said Brian Kelly was a bad hire twelve years ago when Notre Dame settled for him. And he proved that right when he promptly lost to Tulsa and Navy and Northwestern (lost because BK decided to go for 2, up 11). He wound up being the losingest coach in ND history and nobody else was close. He is said to be the winningest coach, but that's only if you add in all the wins ND was forced to vacate because of his violations. He got a kid killed (left him up on the tower in 60mph winds). He was a lazy-arse recruiter. Most importantly, he was a complete dooshnozzle - as an example throwing his center under the bus for one bad snap (in the shotgun, throwing 50+ times, in a literal hurricane, losing 0-7 to NC State). So to all my Tiger friends - get used to it.

So what do you think about Kelly bringing y’all to the playoffs and a NC game? Also do you think Freeman will be the saving grace?

I think you're just upset that the first coach to make y'all relevant since the 80s left. Are you enjoying your new coach who has yet to win you a game?

I read nothing more past this because the intelligence level of the OP is evident.

These narratives frankly don't pass muster my guy. LSU has ~20 additional players on active rosters than Notre Dame. Notre Dame's average class under Kelly, 12-13. LSU's during that time frame, 6-7. And further, LSU is on pace to have it's most successful recruiting class on a points basis ever, which will likely rank top 5. 2024 and 2025 are set to top that. This coming off back to back .500 seasons as well.
I understand the reaction to Brian Kelly from Notre Dame fans, I really do. Even LSU fans have a difficult time admitting at times when their roster is not good enough and lay blame at the coach for big game losses. Notre Dame fans NEED to blame Kelly for their inability to get over the hump. Otherwise, it would be admitting the deepest fear that they have; that they simply aren't good enough as a program. So indulge in getting licks in now when the low hanging fruit on Brian Kelly is there for the taking; I get it. But consider the long game my friend.

This is just sad dude.
Also, the continuous bringing up of the tragic situation involving the student is absolutely disgusting. Given your post, I assume ND investigated the matter and promptly took action to remove Brian Kelly from his position at the school, correct? frick off trying to use the death of a student as trolling material.
Posted on 9/6/22 at 5:16 pm to LSUminati
You'll learn. You sound like the UW fans when they hired Tyrone Willingham after ND fired him. They thought they had found their savior. ND fans tried to warn them but they didn't listen...until good old, lazy arse recruiting Ty went 0-12.
It doesn't please me to write this as LSU has always been one of my favorite teams...I go back to the Bert Jones and Tommy Casanova days...and meeting Ed O in Cabo in February of '04 when he was on Pete Carroll's staff at USC was a treat...great fun...I like LSU only behind my alma mater, and Fresno State (where I both played and coached) and ND...Irish Catholic kid with many family members that attended ND. I wish that BK had gone to Bama. What you saw against FSU encapsulated the last 12 years of ND football. I don't think that your AD did enough proper due diligence. For your sake I hope that I am wrong.

because of his violations.
A student athletic trainer was providing improper academic help (can't recall the details, maybe taking tests or giving out copies of upcoming tests, not really sure). The University argued that they shouldn't be penalized because the student did those things on their own and not on behalf of the university or athletic depart or any coach, the NCAA responded not by saying they had proof of that but that the student was considered a de facto employee of the university.
