Plantation days: It may have come from a title used by domestic slaves to distinguish the mistress of a plantation from "young misses". However, some say the term was derogatory and represented cruelty, turmoil, anger, and pain.

This is how you keep racism alive. Unnecessary stupid shite like this

My son is an Ole Miss grad and I’ve spent a good bit of time in Oxford. Have often seen University of Mississippi written on everything you could imagine. But never heard it spoken except at school functions. They say you graduate from the University of Mississippi but you never leave Ole Miss.

You know they are the University of Mississippi right?

It’s nothing like ULL pretending to be the University of Louisiana. Because Ole Miss actually is the University of Mississippi

Most everyone says LSU.

Every once in awhile someone will say Louisiana State.

He should do like me and call it Old Mississippi. That’s precisely what those bigots stand for Original/Old Mississippi, hence “Ole” Miss.

BK is a Democrat and Democrats want to get rid of the name Ole Miss because they say it’s racist.

As I was saying

I miss Verne Lundquist saying, "Touchdown! Louisiana State University!" he said it all the time.

... and has been the University of Mississippi since the 1840's. ULL just made up their name in the last few years.

I wish ULM would push harder to be called "Louisiana," it would force ull to try something else

That would be the end of our program and would be the day I quit being a fan.

I have multiple great great grandfathers who fought and died for the Confederacy. Their sons were babies when they died and were told their entire life that their dads were heroes. They passed that on generation to generation.

Also the entire student body of Ole Miss joined the Confederacy, and nearly every single one of those young men died or was severely wounded in the War. 100% casualties. The "University Greys" had the most Northerly advance into enemy Union of any Confederate regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg. We will not let their sacrifice be in vain.

Regardless of today's politics, we should still honor our fallen ancestors that fought to protect our family, our homeland, and our University.
