It’s not an excuse. I’ve already said that BK needs to make the playoffs next year. There are no excuses.
What’s ridiculous is this narrative that everyone else is so far ahead of us regardless of if this is pre-NIL era or now.
Ole Miss spent millions this year with arguably one of the of the best rosters in the country on paper and still lost 3 games and missed the playoffs.
Yes, this year was obviously a huge disappointment but I think our future is bright in comparison to a lot of the other playoff teams. NIL isn’t just an LSU problem. Every other team is going to have this problem.
I am encouraged that more people are becoming aware of Bayou Traditions and I think that will lead to donations from average fans that will start to add up.

That narrative has truth to it. We’re an extremely poor state with a low concentration of wealthy individuals and most of our alumni do jack shite to give back to the university.

Mississippi is the only state poorer than us with a worse economy. They have a fraction of our enrollment and their fan base still donates more money to their NIL compared to ours. I would say that nullifies that argument.

Don’t bet your house on Kelly having this team in the playoffs next year. Based on what Kelly said when he took the job, year 3 was suppose to be the pinacle.

Pre-NIL was a completely different era of college football and there will never be anything like it ever again. That was the era we excelled in and now that it’s gone, this program has struggled to keep pace. And at the rate it’s going now with the NIL market, I honestly don’t see us ever competing for a national championship again unless our NIL steps up in a big way.
