Her defense has been a major problem all season- she’s too slow and gets beat so many times . That first step is her major shortcoming. She consistently allow people to dribble around her as she trails them to the basket !

I don't understand why this board hates HVL so much.
She played out of position the entire year. She's talented AF... she's played on USA teams... but anyone who plays out of position is going to not be as well as they can be.

This! We pulled away from them last yr by hitting a number of 3’s and other outside shots. Last night we were incapable of dong either.

Not necessarily true. "She consistently allows" SOME "people to dribble around her". That happened in the Middle Tennessee State game who had a very quick PG, but not so much in the UCLA game for example. It totally depends on the opponent. BTW, people complain about her liabilities as a PG offensively which I believe are overblown. What is not mentioned enough is what you just said against certain teams. Defensively, her square peg in a round hole PG situation really shows up as sometimes she simply is too slow for certain PG opponents.

HVL is good at free throws, that's it! She couldn't get a basket to save her soul and she kept turning the ball over.
Her last 3 games have been pretty mediocre. You can say she is Haley Van Lethargic!

My only problem with her is that she passed the ball out of bounds three times last night. And the fact that her shooting only gets hot once out of five games. We gotta have more production.

I’m not saying anyone can completely shut Clark down, but Clark had her two best career games as far as points responsibility, which also happens to be 1st and 3rd (per NCAA stats shown on ESPN), against Van Lith (70 vs ‘23 Louisville and 67 vs ‘24 LSU). So apparently, Clark plays her absolute best against Van Lith.

Iowa was number one offense in nation .Van Lith played as well as anyone.We just couldn’t make enough shots.

Last 3 games (UI, UCLA, MTSU)
HVL TOs: 2, 1, 1 = 4
Flau’jae TOs: 3, 5, 0 = 8
Morrow: 2, 4, 0 = 6
Reese: 2, 0, 2 = 4
Mikayla: 3, 1, 1 = 5
But continue with the narrative that the turnovers came from HVL in the last three games…

Actually, that isn't it. FG shooting has been bad, but using your 3 game reference, Van Lith has 9 assists, 5 steals, and only 4 turnovers. Sorry man, but better than 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio is fine. More steals than turnovers is excellent since she takes the ball more than she gives it up. I can't dispute the poor FG shooting but she has good things other than just FT %. And I just proved it.
