Hugh Freeze is like advertising that you're going to cut you're own throat. LSU rumored to be up to their hairline in Title IX issues, so let's bring in another former Ole Miss HC that will automatically invite white hot NCAA scrutiny. Yeah, let's do that.

I would much rather have Hugh Freeze over Napier.
So you would rather the same man that was fired from Ole Miss for hiring prostitutes for players and recruits……ok That makes a lot of sense from a PR perspective
Freeze wins everywhere he goes. I could care less about him calling hookers as aren't most men womanizers anyway?

. He is running a power running attack
Don't know why people are so against this.
As long as he can show a successful pass game with it, there's nothing wrong with power run.
Sure wish LSU had a power run game against Mizzou last season on the goal line.
Wish LSU had any run game at all against UCLA.

Here is the thing, it doesn't matter what you think
The university will NOT touch Freeze with a ten foot pole at this point with the Title IX issues, especially if they use that as a reason to fire O

UL ranked in the top 25 and is 21-5 in his last two seasons.
He was a large favorite in most games last year and barely squeaked by. Aside from a freak win in Ames with two kickoff TD returns, he hasn’t had any impressive wins vs teams with considerably more talent. He hasn’t done anything at ull to show me he’s innovative or anything special.

Neither OSU, Clemson, Bama, OU run thay style.
Uga does because they have 4 5* running backs and an amazing offensively line

Woodward is certainly not going to fire this guy from just down the road to hire this other guy from just down that road.
He went to championship level coaches his last two hires. Mulkey was a winner, and Johnson was in the CWS when Woodward got him.
Look for someone that has recently been a major part of a playoff team
Who is that? Kiffin would be the only one under that criteria.
Campbell
Fleck
Fickell
Cristobal
Napier
Franklin
Are decent coaches (none that I want) but are realistic.
Saban has Obrien as OC who nobody wants as HC, Kirby has Monken and 2 young Co DC, Clemsons OC is very new, OU has same Co OC that wouldn't be a fit either.
There isn't that many names this cycle I find that would be what you say Woodward I s looking for.
And frick looking at the NFL - those guys hate recruiting and are always looking to get back in the NFL at a moments notice.

yeah i'm a big fan of coach freeze, but he's not coming here. even if title ix wasn't a problem, i doubt woodward makes that call.

shite, after seeing how FSU looked I'd be happy with Norvell. I've been pumping him up ever since he was hired in Tallahassee. He looks like the real deal IMO

I think he goes after a huge fish like Lincoln Riley or Urban Meyer
Want.
It has to be Urban. Fingers crossed TL is a bust or gets injured and Jax had another terrible season. The stars could align. He's the one guy that could come in and instantly compete for the CFP on a consistent basis. He is the only slam dunk.
Guys like Napier and Finkel could turn out to be great hires. But there is lots of uncertainty in the meantime. They are projects. Urban is a sure thing.
Plus, just think of the Florida melts!

Meter is still only 57
That’s a little under 2 years older than Saban was when he started coaching at Alabama
He could coach here another 10-15 years if he wants to coach into his 70s
If it’s a possible hire it would be a good one.
Throwing the bank at Riley wouldn’t be a terrible idea either but who knows what his buyout are OU would be.

Only a P5 coach is getting hired by Woodward. Thats what he did with his last 2 splash hires

those are all realistic candidates. Im a huge fan of Napier and i think most dont want him because they have small penis syndrome when it comes to ULL. The man is a saban clone.
for those wanting kiffen
was he a football genius when he was getting his ***** pushed in at USC and was a complete failure when he lost 13 games in first 3 seasons? what about when he went 5-7 his second year at FAU? When he went 5-5 last year at ole miss? or was it that stellar record with the Raiders that told you he was an amazing head coach?
what part of his record tells you he is the next saban or hell even the next jimbo?
Nfl- 5-15
UT- 7-6
USC- 28-15
FAU- 26-13
Ole Miss- 67-39
Billy Napier has been more successful that Lane at similar programs. He doesnt have any of the bullshite that comes with Lane. Billy is known more for his attention to detail in all aspects of the program. Not a damn thing you can claim abotu lane that makes him seem like a coaching genius. is he a great Offensive coach...absolutely. but lets not act like Bamas offense hasnt gotten better since he left.
on hugh freeze....what part of never going 39-25 at ole miss screams elite? was it the one season with 3 losses? or was it the that magnificant 4 loss season in 2014? or was it the other 3 season where he had 5+ losses that makes him so awesome?
oh wait.....must be the elite way he runs the program where he crosses every T and dots every I...oh wait, whats that? he left Ole miss in shambles and on probation...and also had indiscretions with women.....kind of the same type thing everyone critizes O for but worse?
QUIT HIRING FORMER OLE MISS COACHES!!!!
I like Freeze and kiffen, but lets not act like they have been elite when they have gotten their chance, especially kiffen. and lets not act like they dont both come with off the field baggage that are similar to the issues with coach O. Both are going to be No Go because of the title ix shite.
some of yall sound like the idiots saying to make saban and dabo say no...fricking retarded. or yall scream for coaches that have proven they were not elite just because you believe they can beat saban. BAMA is living rent free in many of your heads.
hire the best guy available.
1) gauge petersons interest....its doubtful but you have to try due to success and previous relationship. He is the no brainer.
2) check UM interest after year in Jacksonville. I think he is not an option but atleast feel it out.
3) Feel out Fleck, Cristobal, and Campbell and really evaulate recruiting, use CFB matrix by dave bartoo to see how they are doing as far as punching above their talent level and how are they improving the talent level then compare to option #4.
4) compare Napier to those above. which one improves record, recruiting, fund raising, etc
make a decision between Fleck, Campbell, Napier and Cristobal. Also have to look at which of those would not jump at a big job in midwest. We know Fickell would and Fickell was a failure in one season at OSU despite having huge talent advantage.
Personally I think Napier is the best hire, but would be happy with any of the other 3.

you are fricking stupid. wtf reason would either leave?
money?- bama and clemson would pay more than we could offer
prestige?- both are just as big or bigger brands than LSU at this point
easier path to chamionship- nope
easier recruiting- nope, both have their machines fine tuned right now for that.
so what in the frick reason would they come here? its a waste of time and shows that you have the IQ about the same as ED O if you beleive even asking is a legit possibility. Now get back to building scaffolding and quit playing on tigerdroppings.

Somebody going to make a big board of coaches? If someone gives me some names I'll put a thread together
Posted on 9/7/21 at 11:26 am to Cigar
Maybe Billy knew the LSU job was opening soon when he rejected overtures last season.
Posted on 9/7/21 at 11:27 am to Captain Crown
Chicken should just open the coaching changes board. We know it, he knows it, and the LSU AD knows it.
