Damn you’re not even close to sports relevancy at LSU. Good luck trying to figure it out. You could have just as easily talked to people who actually experienced it.

Rein was not in a Learjet, he was in a twin engine Cessna prop plane. Pretty sure there were no photos.

You may be confusing this with golfer Payne Stewart; he died the same way (but in a Learjet). Not sure if there was any real video or photos, but there for sure have been "re-enactment" videos.

I saw someone posted Mike Miley already. We had just gone to the veer and needed to have a QB who could run that offense. The option offenses need a great trigger man to be successful . We will never know how good he might have been. It could be argued that Not having a good QB to run this offense lead to the demise of Charlie Macs tenure at LSU. Of course, there were other issues

What if LSU had beaten Florida State in 1979LINK

Bobby Bowden had a offer on the table to take the job after Mac retired. He has been quoted many times saying he was on the fence. He told his wife that if they could go into Tiger Stadium and beat a program like LSU he knew he could build something at FSU. If they lost he was going to take the LSU job.

Beat me to it. No Saban to Alabama and no Super Bowl for the Saints. I am torn, but glad it worked out the way it did. Can say that the Saints won a Super Bowl in my lifetime

Or the Saints could have drafted Aaron Rodgers and saved themselves about $50 million from 2006-2010.

IMO, Perrilloux is biggest what-if.

Another, what if Arnsparger had stayed a few more years? We were on an amazing trajectory when he up and got old.

If Eric Walker would not have got hurt in the 2017 CWS we would have probably beat Florida for the National Championship

Same series, what if Slaughter isn't called out for going in cleats up at 2nd in game 2 vs Florida. LSU ties the game, has all of the momentum and likely wins that game setting up a game 3 with a rested Lange on the mound vs a depleted Florida staff.

Bill Arnsparger was never going to stay longer at LSU, he did not like coaching college age players, he hated recruiting, he wanted a different level job.

Bo could be the over all what if story in LSU history, loved coaching, loved recruiting, loved football.

Perriloux is a close second, with him LSU may have won 1-2 more championships.

What if LSU scores more than 3 point verses Auburn and beats Florida in the SEC Championship in 2006? We would have beat the shite out of Ohio St in the national championship game.

What if? In 2011, instead of a Bama rematch for the NC, we play OkSt.

I instantly started to think about the 2017 CWS when this thread came up

But then I thought about how OSU was probably on their boards asking "what if the umpire had a realistic strike zone against LSU"

My bigger "what if" for baseball would be:

What if the Super Regional against Stoney Brook was played in perfect weather and not a rain filled clusterfrick
