At the Happy Hour gathering my crew and I began discussing what ifs in national sports history— for example, would the Patriots dynasty have ever launched without the Tuck Rule Game, what would the NBA look like if Len Bias survived, would MLB have folder were it not for RoidBoys chasing 61.

Now I am the only LSU person in the group so Tigers didn’t get mentioned. Wanted to hear other’s thoughts on the biggest what if’s in Baton Rouge. Off the top of my head:

1. Bo Rein- would we have been the 90s Florida in the 80s?

2. Leonard Fournette’s high ankle sprain 2016 in camp- would Leslie have won 10 games?

Love to hear others’ opinions here.

What if Ryan Perriloux doesn't try to gamble underage or if Honeybadger doesn't smoke weed.

What if there was .5 more seconds on the clock in the 2016 LSU/Auburn game on the final play?

-Les remains HC
-No offense re-vamp
-No Burrow
-Natty? Unlikely.

Oklahoma State vs. Iowa State, 2011.

quote:

The Cowboys raced to a 24–7 lead early into the third quarter. Iowa State scored 17 unanswered points to tie the game, but quarterback Jared Barnett was intercepted with 2 minutes to go, and the Cowboys were immediately in field goal range. After the Cyclones forced a 4th-and-1 at the 20-yard line, Oklahoma State opted to try a field goal with just over a minute remaining, but the 37-yard field goal attempt by Oklahoma State kicker Quinn Sharp went wide right, forcing overtime. There, Iowa State scored a touchdown on the first play, while Oklahoma State successfully responded with a touchdown on their own. On the first play of the second overtime, a pass by Heisman candidate Brandon Weeden was tipped and intercepted, giving Iowa State a golden opportunity to pull off the upset, which they did after a series of plays that culminated in running back Jeff Woody running into the endzone. Jubilant Iowa State fans then stormed the field.

Kicker makes that kick, OSU goes undefeated, plays undefeated LSU in BCSNCG instead of Alabama, LSU likely goes 14-0 and completes the best season in CFB history.

We all know what actually happened.

LSU would have recruited Elvin Hayes. Imagine Maravich and Hayes (both First-Team All-Americans in '68) on the same team.

Not the biggest, but what if Poche gets a PO against TCU and continues to cruise.

What if the wind doesn't change in 1998?

I'll go the other route... What if Jimbo or Herman are hired instead of O? Sometimes it works for our favor when something doesn't happen.

2012 Bama game. If we held on to win, we end up stopping the streak at 1, and most likely we also play for and win the National Title against ND. The narrative of Saban, Bama, Miles, the whole thing changes.

Then again, whatever road that led to 2019 was worth it.

Also this is the year we lost to Clemson in the bowl in what many believe started their run.

What if Nick Saban tells Wayne Huizenga "Thanks, but no thanks." Saban won NC's with Mauck, Greg McElroy, Blake Sims and Jacob Coker. What would Saban have accomplished with Jamarcus Russell and Jimbo Fisher as OC?

What if the highest rated quarterback signing in LSU history, Russell Shepard, actually played quarterback at LSU?
