I'm still struck about the play calling in that game compared to the post-2008. We see a qb wham with the backup qb. We see a running game out of the shot gun. We see LSU manipulating the defense with their tight end to get a favorable matchup in a long d&d.

That was before Les Miles got broken for sure. A good reminder that he wasn't always what he became.

Because it hasn't been mentioned. IMO the most underrated game in Tiger Stadium history.

How about the beat down of Notre Dame in 1971 following the 3-0 shutout loss the year before?

1979 USC game. Gos awful ending but atmosphere never topped. Literally nobody sat down the entire game.

USC players that night:

RB 33 Marcus Allen So
G 71 Brad Budde Sr
TE 89 Hoby Brenner Jr
QB 16 Paul McDonald Sr
T 77 Anthony Munoz Sr
T 68 Keith Van Horne Jr
RB 12 Charles White Sr
Defense
Pos. # Name Class
LB 51 Chip Banks So
LB 56 Dennis Johnson Sr
FS 42 Ronnie Lott Jr

Anthony Munoz said after the game that Notre Dame was "Romper room" compared to death valley.

If Les continued to coached that way, with cajones, he’d still have a job.

I remember at that game when the announcer said USC had lost. The crowd lost their freaking minds. We were playing to be number 1. I have never heard a sound that loud or intense before or since.

1988 Auburn was the most dramatic, followed closely by Georgia in 2003 and Auburn in 1995.

No doubt the 1979 USC game is in the top 3 and you can add the 1971 revenge game against Notre Dame and the '69 Auburn game. For you youngsters 03 Georgia and 2007 Florida would have to rank close to the top.

UGA 98 was awesome, except for the end result. Loudest I've ever heard the place for 4 straight quarters. Great back and forth game.

My favorite game in 50 years of attending LSU games. Having south ez seats helped on that drive.

Was there, and for so many other great games. That Was a great one, but nothing compares to LSU VS USC '79
It is what it is.

That 07 season was something else. The student section was rocking every game. Virginia Tech, South Carolina in the rain, Auburn, Florida. Oh my have times changed.
