I'm a huge PP7, fan, but don't you have to be good at at least 2 sports?

Trindon Holliday was one of the fastest sprinters in the conference, while being one of the best returners.

Similar things can be said for Billy Cannon - All American/Heisman back/return man and competed in the conference in both track and field events.

Baseball is a notch above golf in terms of athleticism.

He started taking golf lessons after moving to AZ and became a scratch golfer within a year.

Meh. Just because ESPN covers it *cough* bowling *cough* - doesn't make it a "sport." And even if you expand the definition, it definitely isn't athletic.

Anything a 46 year old man can be the "best in the world" at - ISN'T an athletic competition.

OBJ was a hell of a soccer player before concentrating on football.

"Athletic" can be defined many ways and it's obvious you have no clue about the types of athletic skills that are necessary in golf. It takes great hand-eye coordination, great reflexes (the greats can feel an error and adjust mid-swing) and great feel. It even takes more stamina than you realize when you consider the top pros still have to perform at their best after walking four-plus hours up and down hills. Do golfers have to be strong? Well, not as much as in football, basketball, wrestling, boxing, etc., but more than you think. They certainly don't have to run fast, or jump high, but they do need good reflexes.

Sam Snead - if you even know who he was - and Ted Williams were arguing about it one day and Snead said "we have to go find and play our foul balls."

And no forty-six year old has EVER been the best in the world at it. Golfers hit their physical peaks in their young twenties, just as all other athletes. The difference is that they continue gaining experience and mental strength while their physical skills are slipping, so they can compete past the age when other athletes break down or give out.

Best athlete has to be a football or basketball guy. Requires a bunch of physical skills to be excellent in those two sports even though hitting a 95 MPH pitch is probably the single toughest thing to do in sports.

I could hit a 110 mph pitch before I could dunk a basketball.

Trindon Jerard Holliday

from LSUI read a post last week that said Pat Peterson was the best we ever had. I believe Chad Jones is the best we ever had

Trindon Jerard Holliday (born April 27, 1986) is an American football wide receiver and return specialist who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL draft. He played college football at LSU. Holliday was also a track runner in high school. In 2005, Holliday posted the nation’s fastest indoor time in the 55 and 60-meter dashes. He led his team into the 2A state title by winning the 100 meters and 200 meters and was second in the long jump.[3] Holliday was a four-time state champion in the 200 meters and a three-time 100 meters champion.

This will be a very unpopular mention, but Josh Booty was the top draft pick in Major league baseball and received a (then) record million dollar signing bonus. Was the top recruit in the nation in football and later became all SEC QB. Later still pitched a little knuckleball in majors. great natural golfer. Mike Miley couldn't hold Booty's jock.
Of course, Josh was Josh, so he isn't held in very high regard in many circles.
BTW, there are three real candidates: Cannon, Casanova and Peterson.
