To play devil's advocate, how many on roster do you think could lace up and play in the NBA or even D-League?

Not many but more than NBA players could play in MLB. Running fast and jumping high are not the only components for being considered an athlete. Reactions, hand eye, agility, strength, power, explosiveness are measurables as well.

you are out of your damn mind. The rules of baseball are far more complex than a reactionary sport. It's like saying Barry Bonds could hit Jenny Finch and he couldn't. Hell thats nearly the same sport. You guys are fooling your dumbass selves if you can remotely believe any of this shite. Baseball athletes are both athletic and talented. It's not all about reaction. There is so much complexity in it. I played through my freshman year in baseball. Played with and against some guys that went to triple A and they were so much better than I was with their hands and hips and reaction and all that goes with it.
We get together and play golf every year. I'm as good as they are. That little yellow ball is freaking hard to hit. None of us are close to be scratch.

Agree with your list.

I think it's Shaq and it's not even close imo. In college and his early NBA career, he was as physically , athletically gifted person as you will find on this planet. The sheer power combined with his speed and agility is still unprecedented.

Admittedly, I've only browsed this thread, but it's completely fricking suspect that LF7 is so disrespected in this bitch... shame on y'all, shame on every single one of y'all

Both were as or more athletic than Peterson and both were faste

Sure Cannon was faster but in no way was Casanova faster.
TC ran a 4.5
PP ran a 4.34 at the combine.

In fact Casanova was bigger than Patrick Peterson.

TC was 209
PP was 219

Both of these men were big guys too. Look at their hight and weight.

Neither one was 210 lbs.

Im not saying BC and TC werent athletic. BC is easily one of the most athletic guys in lsu history. Im just saying PP being mentioned isnt some huge stretch.

Then you haven't read many dumb shite in your life. If baseball were so easy the great athletes in basketball and football would be able to play it, right? The high majority cannot. The great athletes in baseball would have a better chance playing another sport than others trying to play baseball. That's a fact.

No its the definition of an opinion.
Once again, there are no adrian peterson, leonard Fournette, patrick peterson, lebron james, or westbrooks in mlb.

You are crazy if you think an athletic baseball player would fair better in the nba or nfl than the most athletic players in those 2 sports.

We will have to agree to disagree but your statement was the epitome of an opinion.

My post really wasn't directed at the athleticism required to play the various sports. There are incredible athletes in both the NBA and NFL.

I do believe, as a single skill set, hitting a 98 mph fastball with movement is the most difficult thing to do in all of sports. Especially when you know the pitcher you're facing has two speeds of changeup, a slider and a curve he can toss in as well.

I'm not arguing over athleticism just this single skill that only a very few possess.

But this thread is about who the greatest athlete is, not who has a good skill set. That's why The Pistol shouldn't be in this conversation, either. He was very dedicated to his craft, had great hand-eye coordination, and had a fantastic skill-set, but God-given, athletic talent? He was above-average, sure, but no one was going to mistake him for a Greek god.

Chad Jones would have been the GOAT if not for that car accident. It still makes me sad when i think about it.

You're right and I provided my opinion on that matter.

It's Mike Miley.

I briefly went off on another tangent with regards to hitting a baseball.

Best athlete has to be a football or basketball guy. Requires a bunch of physical skills to be excellent in those two sports even though hitting a 95 MPH pitch is probably the single toughest thing to do in sports.

That' the biggest farce in all of Baseball. It's the curve you think is going to be a fastball that is the toughest thing in all of baseball

OBJ's mom, Heather Van Norman

Set track records at LSU, including 3 national championships both while pregnant and after giving birth to another LSU All-American.

Does anybody else even come close?

So Casanova ran a 9.6 100 TDs which is about 10.5 in high school.
Define fast.
You guys don't know shite about track or what training advantages athletes have today as compared to other generations. For example. Did you give on shots to the types of shoes or surface said times were recorded? What about diet and TRAINING FOR THE COMBINE AT SPECIAL FACILITIES FOR THAT ONLY task for months? Did you think about drag?
Let's take Jesse Owens for example. Give me him over every track star the last 30 years. Go watch his times from Berlin and look at the track. He ran a 10.28 in the 100M. That's worth .5 - .75 second worth of time. Cannon ran basically on grass at and ran a 9.6 100 yard dash.
Owens had dirt for blocks. Go look at those videos.
Give me Owens.
