After Maravich---Ethan Martin was the best traditional two-way pure point guard. Chris Jackson was the best scorer (he's my single favorite LSU player ever and it's not even close).

Derrick Taylor would be in that discussion.

No LSU point guard conversation is complete without the great T.J. Pugh.

Derrick Taylor was a better point guard than Chris Jackson was.

Jackson was a great guard and a great scorer. He was a great player and since his position was PG, he goes down on the top 5 players in LSU history list at PG and you move Pete Maravich to SG because he was 6'4" and could score from anywhere.

But, Jackson was not a great distributor or passer and he did not do a great job of getting others involved or running the offense. He could create his own shot and score at will, but when I think of a great PG, I think of other things.

I'd take Derrick Taylor, a healthy Randy Livingston over Chris Jackson at the point.

But, he was great player.

Best lead guard after Pete. CJ was not a true point guard though he was an adept passer. LSU has had some fantastic point guards, going all the way back to the mythical NC team with Sparky Wade. Joe Dean played some point and of course there was Kenny Higgs, Ethan Martin and Derrick Taylor, the latter two being the point guards for final four teams.

After CJ, Johnny Jones could be in the discussion.
