I want retro gear like the kind they wear in the old photos- the 08 line of clothes to go with it... hell yeah!
Posted on 5/20/20 at 9:21 pm to PrimetimeDaBoss
Why would you oppose it when the NCAA acknowledges it?

Here’s your downvote and negative comment...... bitch

Me.
It really creates no momentum for the 2020 or beyond seasons.
It will garner ridicule.

From time to time it has come up. Invariably, some blowhard spouts off “don’t be like Alabama, we’re better than that blah blah blah ” and questioning the Tiger fanhood of anyone who felt it should be claimed.
I’m 100% for it.

Dude, you’re so edgy!!!

Never bothered me either way. Doesn’t really hold much weight in 2020 but whatever.

Since about 2007 I have wanted to claim it

I always thought we should claim it. 1908 Tigers were legit.

I have always been and still am opposed to claiming it because nobody thought of LSU as the best team in 1908. Teams went undefeated all the time back then. But that didn't mean anything. Hell, Kansas and Chicago were also undefeated that season, but you never hear anything about them.
Why? Because the football powerhouses of that time were in the Ivy League. Harvard and Penn were the best teams, and either would have crushed LSU. We had a great player in Doc Fenton who dominated inferior competition in the newly formed SIAA. Harvard and Penn had entire teams full of players like that, who they were actually paying to stay in school. They literally had professional football teams, and we had one player. It would have been a bloodbath.
I guess nobody cares, though. We're going full Bama.

My grandfather Ryan played on that team that was the greatest team in college football from 1869 to arguably the 1924 Notre Dame Team coached by Knute Rockne.
Dude WTF? No disrespect to your grandfather, but this is way off base. LSU in 1908 was a product of the game spreading to other regions of the country. The Midwest was first, and Michigan had the first "point-a-minute" team in 1901 (a nickname the 1908 LSU team applied to itself).
Thing is ... Michigan routinely lost to the Ivies when they played. They could win against inferior competition in the 'Western' conference but not when matched up against the best teams from the best league.
LSU? We played in the SIAA. It was the Sun Belt of its day. LSU would have gotten destroyed by Harvard and Penn. It wouldn't have been close.

Of all the years that someone named LSU as 'national champions' by such outfits as Dunkel Index, Williamson Index, National Coach's Association, etc. (1935, 1936, 1961, 1962, 1987, and 2011), the 1908 title was the most legit because it has been recognized by the current NCAA, the structure of what the NCAA was back in 1908 (whatever it was called), and the newspapers and sportswriters at the time - although this was split between Penn for the northern media and LSU for the midwest and south.
Which means LSU would have 5 legit national championships and 6 more Bama-sytle national championships.

It will absolutely take something away form the 2019 season, the greatest ever. Why can't w just celebrate them??

I didn’t know any fans opposed it.

The 1908 team was legit and recognized- not claiming it is a miscarriage of justice!!!

mostly along the lines of not wanting to claim titles like Bama (understandably)
Ya know, Bama only claims 2 natties not recognized by the NCAA. Tennessee claims 3 (Half of their claimed natties are not real).
1908 is recognized by the NCAA so not claiming it is stupid.
