People really do not understand what happened when Bo came back to LSU. They love to blame him for everything, but nearly all of the issues on that defense were linked to two things, Covid year and then O being a complete moron and control freak.
O insisted on switching back to a 4-3 when Aranda had built our defense as a 3-4 system up through the NC. We didn’t have the personnel to run what O insisted on and then add in shutdowns, opt-outs and limited spring practice due to COVID and you got that disaster.
Glad I'm not the only one that has to remind fans of this. The '20 debacle on D was more on O than Bo.

What cracks me up , is whenever an ex LSU coach geta clipped many believe they should hire them.

He can come back to LSU if Baker bolts for the ACC this offseason

If Baker does leave, who would you want for DC?
Whether he's an ex-LSU coach or not is neither here nor there.

Baker is going to get P4 head coaching looks after this season. I bet USCe fires Beamer and could see that as a fit - could retain Briles.
I wouldn't be surprised to see USCe kick the tires on Muschamp.

It’s some serious revisionist history going on thinking Aranda isn’t head and shoulders above Baker.

Firing Aranda was stupid. Record 40-40.
"The 2021 Peak: In just his second season, Aranda orchestrated the greatest season in Baylor history. He led the Bears to a 12-2 record, a Big 12 Championship, and a Sugar Bowl victory over Ole Miss, resulting in a program-best No. 5 final AP ranking."
Season record 4-3.

Venables when OU fires him. Baker is still the DC last time I looked.

Always seemed like the type that needed to be a career coordinator. I think he’s a really good DC, but doesn’t have the personality to be the face of a program
Aranda was never a good recruiter, but he’s the kind of head coach you would think NIL would really help. He had a wealthy donor base at Baylor and likely could have leveraged that a lot more effectively than he did.
He would definitely make a good DC candidate if he wanted to come back after Baker likely leaves this offseason. He did a good job adjusting his defense to a tempo offense in 2019 and we don’t run that fast of a tempo most of the time this year.
The biggest issue is that he’s pretty insistent on running a 3-4. We would need a lot of portal work and shuffling up front and at LB for that. Maybe it would work better in one respect- Lamar Brown would likely be a perfect 3-4 DE.
