Apparently not as a team ranked #11 by CFP committee is not in twelve team playoffs.

So tired of this.

SEC teams with this argument don’t seem to realize that they wouldn’t have the recruits, facilities or notoriety they have if they weren’t in the SEC.

As I’ve said in other threads, it’s like they just want the playoffs to be 12 SEC schools, because nobody else could possibly be any good.

In a given season, maybe not. But in the long run, absolutely.

And to qualify, with each expansion ('92, '12, and '24) the SEC has taken a step back while all of CFB is face planting.

Notre Dame has an advantage controlling its schedule. 9 cupcakes, 3 decent opponents. win 1 of 3 get in at 10-2 and no chance to lose in conference championship.

and give up $25 to $40 million annually?

Big 12 members received 44 MM each last season. Sarcasm was 51.3. Not as big as most think. Of course LSU lost money last year. WBB lost 7 MM alone. Better raise ticket prices and finish off paying down depth included coaches salaries that have been fired.

Go kick rocks

This is a pathetic troll. The regular season loss to Souhern Cal is the only game you think we would have lost all year? Give me a break.

and no we would not have beaten Boise State or SMU this year; especially not Boise

Boise State, Arizona State, SMU, Clemson, Indiana, etc. all could beat LSU this year.

Do we really have to spell it out for you? You look like more and more of an idiot with each post. Stop before you get any further behind.

Any 3 loss team who doesn’t win conference championship or appear in conference championship game, no matter what conference doesn’t deserve to be in playoffs period

This is the mentality that will eventually blow up college football. Large market teams won't continue to raise millions of dollars to compete against other large market teams only to get replaced by the small market teams in the playoff based on cupcake wins, not strength of schedule.

Big 12 members received 44 MM each last season.

SEC members received $51 million. But that’s under the old media contract. The new ESPN contract will add about $15 million per school (after accounting for dilution with 2 additional members).

Additionally, the new CFP contract will increase payouts to the Big 10 and SEC while decreasing payouts (as percentage of total) to everyone else. So that’ll be another ~$10 million difference for SEC schools.

Meanwhile the Big 12’s new media contract will add ~$8 million per school.

So doing the math, that means being in the SEC should be worth about $24 million/year more than the Big 12.

College football isn't the NFL and shouldn't try to be. It's the history and traditions that set it apart from other sports and the SEC is rich in both. Dominating a weak conference every year might provide an easy path to the playoffs but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as winning the SEC once in a while.
