I'm sure the coaches tell the pitchers to get on the mound and throw as hard as they can their first outing of Spring practice. Nothing like having half your pitchers develop sore arms after their first scrimmage.

First scrimmage of the spring and very few of our top arms threw. George, Hilliard and Beck were all sitting about where you’d expect them to.

Eta: Vietmeier was also sitting about where he always has.

I must have been the umps first scrimmage as well, IMO. Eight of the walks were issued by new pitchers, for what it's worth.

Do we know why Beloso didn’t play? If it’s injury related I must have missed the news.

I know it’s not unheard of for players to miss scrimmages due to mundane reasons like class or family obligations but just curious if anyone has any insight

Manieri said during his PC that a couple guys were nursing injuries. I just assumed Beloso was one of them.

Thanks. I watched the PC but I also had a fussing 5 month old in my lap while I watched it so I don’t think I actually retained much
