I heard Beloso was practicing with the track and field team, but that could be rumor. I did read once, his brother was a famous pole vaulter.
Braden Doughty was 2-2 and if I'm not mistaken he had one the highest batting averages in the fall. I have grown fond of this kid. He will do anything for the team, we plug him in all over the place as needed.
He is on the academic honor roll with a major in sports administration.
I watched him make a really nice running catch and throw from SS one practice last year and the whole team cheered for him. You could sense the teams admiration for him. This is a guy that is never in the spotlight but had a little moment in the sun.
I know he will never nail down a position at LSU but I hope he gets his share of at bats. I think he could have started at a lesser university but elected to come to LSU, because he loves LSU. I admire the kid and hope the best for him, maybe a future coach.

Is it safe to assume, barring injuries of course, that the Purple lineup will be the opening day starters (with Beloso in for Sanford)?

I would say there are a couple positions still up for grabs

Good thing is you have some righty lefty matchups you can use with gio and Hampton in cf
Beloso and dugas in left
Safford on inf
Sanford and drost etc

Yes, I thought that was implied. I was talking mainly about the order, just plug Beloso in for Sanford in the 4 hole.

I think not being at 100% will hold him back this spring, unfortunately.

He needs to pick between one of the sports.
He was terrible this year in football.

He hasn’t been healthy since last spring. Really a damn shame.
