first Top 25 of 2023 is upon us and standing atop the rankings at the No. 1 spot are the LSU Tigers. Jay Johnson enters Year 2 in Baton Rouge and when factoring in both transfers and freshmen, this is potentially one of the best recruiting classes ever. Superstars Tommy White and Paul Skenes transfer in after having major Division I success and join an established core of veterans led by Dylan Crews and Tre’ Morgan. The Tigers have an overwhelming amount of talent and we’ll be taking a closer look at LSU’s No. 1 team later this week.

Baseball America and D1Baseball should be out soon.

Those first 3 weekends of conference play @ A&M, TENN, ARK is going to be incredible baseball.

Not a fan of the national hype. The team should be really good. And we as fans always have these high expectations. But these national publications and writers going all in on our transfer and recruiting success need to relax.

Who cares about all these useless preseason polls. Have the number 1 ranking at the end of the season with trophy in hand.

I'm pretty sure Ole Miss was preseason #1 last year and ended up winning it all so it's not completely irrelevant

The transfer guys give plenty of reason to be excited. Mostly because of the depth it adds to the front line pitching. We went into last season with one pitcher (Hilliard) that had proven he could turn a line up over more than once consistently.

We now have two (Skenes, Floyd) and two guys that have done it in small samples but show promise in being able to do it consistently (Taylor in the Cape and Hurd pre-injury).

I also think that some of the hype is based on the coaching staff as well. Jay said guys seem to take a leap their second year in his system, which should help the bottom of the line up. And alongside the increased pitching talent is arguably the best developer of pitchers in the country.

There are a lot of reasons for the hype. Though I still think it's more LSU and Tennessee head and shoulders above everyone else rather than just LSU above everyone else.

You could make an Atlantic Sun championship team out of the guys on those rosters (LSU/Tenn) that will barely play this season.

Just don’t like what it can do to a teams mentality if they’re not perfect from day 1. This is more for baseball and even to an extent basketball where hitting and shooting slumps are real. Pitchers can lose some control. The more mental sports that rely on mental toughness rather than physical capability like football don’t necessarily benefit from the top rankings. It’s generally a good sign because it shows this staff is doing what it needs to do. But even these transfers who are at the top of their position have to show some mental edge playing in front of the LSU crowds hosting tennessee. Nothing at NC State or Air Force will get them ready to show they can do it here. The pressure is already high. It’s LSU. This adds to it. I’d rather be slightly under the radar.

If the guys on this team don’t understand that and agave the mental ability to get over it then they aren’t the guys that we thought they were and that is 100 percent on the coaches.

Nah Texas was like the consensus preseason #1 last year. Ole Miss was between 5-10 depending on the poll.

Well I’m more of a fan of having great players and great hype than a lesser team with lower expectations.

Can’t go out in the off-season and act like the Yankees and then get shy.

I’ll send a mass email to all the poll voters and tell them Elle from TD said y’all all need to relax. I know we have the best college player in baseball and 3 other all Americans but please calm down.

We’re not Tennessee. We can follow through on the hype in June.

We will not be perfect from day 1. I think Jay still has a lot to figure out from rotation/sequence and lineup standpoint, so we'll see some struggles and shuffling. Contrary to you belief, I think that will actually help the team come together even more. This board will obviously melt some along the way, but the goal is to be firing by postseason play. The key will be health. If this team stays healthy, no matter the preseason ranking, no matter what kind of stumbles we have, we will be right there in the end despite it all.
