It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out at the end in the OF and the DH spot. We have so many lefty options this year. I think that’s what gives guys like Frey and Preister a chance to see a good bit of at bats. If they make the most of them great, if not then move on to the next guy

I think you are a little low on Curiel's hitting grade. I know he is a freshman and has to prove it in game but when you look at the fall and spring compared to everyone else on the team he has been the most consistent. Hit .371 in the fall and now in the spring scrimmages he is hitting .471.
Again, he has to prove it in game which is maybe why you have it low, but his hit tool is probably the best tool he has right there with his defense. I'd give it at least a 60 and maybe even a 65. Can't wait to watch him play.
This time of year leading into game week seems like the longest week of the year. Thanks for this thread to get through this slow feeling time.

I think he’s going to be my favorite player this season
The other day CJJ said this is the fastest outfield he’s ever had
I think he said they all clock in under 22 mph
He asked Stanfield who the fastest player on the team was & Stanfield said me

I actually went back and forth between a 55 and 60 so I agree with your comment

Which Freshmen/Sophomores would be draft eligible after their second year?

Larson has better speed than most know. He gets down the line pretty well for a guy not known for speed.
Arrambide can also run. To me he has better than average speed for a catcher. I saw him turn on the jets on a double and was really impressed.
Curiel can fly around the bases.

Going out on a limb and saying we will have upgraded here a bit
A little crazy to think Beck might not get much run at all on this team (as position player), dude can hit.

I'm sure I missed somebody

The idea that we may only get Curiel for 2 years makes me nauseous

Parents holding their kids back so they are 19 or 20 when they graduate HS is always hilarious ro me.

Is that correct that Stanfield is 6’2? If so damn I did not realize that. He’s a big dude then

He may follow the Jake Magnum path where teams shy away from him for lack of power. Mangum had 5 HR's in four seasons. (I know it only takes one team).

I can say he’s not much shorter than Jones & the roster has him listed at 6’4
Posted on 2/6/25 at 7:52 pm to LSUJML
Larson is not very good in the field and I think Curiel, not Stanfield ends up at the top of the lineup.

I'll admit that I'm nervous about moving guys between positions in the infield within an inning. I can't be talked into or out of it yet.

Milam is going to be worn out if they move him around in season as much as preseason. It’s a lot.

You've mentioned Antoine and Jake Mangum when talking about Curiel. If he's anything like them, we're in good hands. Aren't they 1 and 2 on the SEC's all-time hits list?
I expect there to be some bumps in the road but I can't wait to get this season started.

They are. Magnum is at 382 hits and Duplantis at 352. I'm not directly comparing him to those two but I think the way he plays lends a comparison.
