That’s wild to me. Cannizzaro feels like he was here a decade ago. I know it’s only been 6 years but it feels like way more.

So the Skenes, Cooper, Shores rumors are true. Hurd is being prepped for the Texas game. I guess it’s not something I considered because our starters are so deep but I guess it makes sense.

I've heard the Cooper rumors. I don't see the benefit to start him.

Innings are innings I supposed. The other option is Floyd. But from what I’ve heard it’s likely he starts next week. They want 5-6 guys getting weekend starts these first few weeks.

This. Like I said in another thread, I expect the Saturday-Sunday starters to differ the first few weeks until we settle on something right before SEC play.

If they're holding Hurd for mid-week Texas it makes sense.
All in all the weekday games arent much different from the weekend games going into conference play. The toughest game is definitely @ Texas so saving Hurd for that one makes sense on a stage like that. Hurd could start vs. Southern next week then Texas on Tuesday the week after turn around and start the Sunday Central Connecticut St game or Monday Butler game and work his way back into weekend before conference play.
Whatever rotation we see this weekend will probably change a few times even just heading into conference play.
I do think its weird he may start Cooper because I just dont see any scenario short of injury where he's a starter this year once we get into conference play. His role definitely best seems served giving you extended innings out the pen as a lefty considering we may only trust 2 lefties on this team even to give us critical innings.

quote:Like ell and Cub said, maybe just to get a look at multiple people or maybe to control innings early in the season. Or if Ack or one of the freshman look like they could be reliable out of the pen Cooper could give you a drastically different look as a starter on weekends to go along with two power RHs in the other games.

I like his experience in the bullpen though.

I agree it gives you a different look. He averaged 1.333 innings per appearance last year and I just don't see him ever becoming a guy that stretches 5-6 innings. Obviously LSU doesn't need that but if that's the case keep him in the bullpen.

Not LSU related, but New Mexico State just announced some pretty legit new uniforms:

Makes me think of the field of dreams. Tangent, How awesome would it be if LSU played a game at that field . There’s needs to be a ‘college classic’ there badly

1000% agree, but also would like to see a Winn Dixie Showdown format again. Bring in LSU, La Tech, ULL, Tulane, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, and Texas A&M for example. Start Thursday, round robin. Next season, bring in Florida, Florida St, Miami, and UCF. Rinse, repeat.
